Sound Bath Sessions 295: Mingwei Kok
Mingwei brought a set of white crystal bowls and metal bowls to play. In the first session, she played her crystal bowls over the scattered bird calls and steady drone of the insects as the sun slowly began to light up the sky. The bowls were slow and clear, gently pulling one out of sleep. Then it happened (spoiler alert). Behind her, the water fountain was turned on, and the growing sound of falling water began to creep over each step to the ground below, eventually swallowing all sounds weaker than itself, a vacuum of noise. I cracked my eyes open, and I realized that the entire area behind her was usually submerged in a large water feature that is drained every evening when the water is turned off. By the end of the session, we were surrounded by the sounds of the birth of a new place. I remember the cool breeze from the moving water against my skin and face as the fresh morning air rushed to fill my lungs.
