From a Broken Heart to True Love Written and read by Gerald Blomire and Jocelyn B.
Smith Ariadne is the mistress of the labyrinth.
She accompanies us on the journey through life,
From birth to spiritual awakening.
She saves the future King of Athens,
Theseus,
By leading him out of a labyrinth.
When he deserts her,
She is heartbroken.
By connecting with Mother Earth,
She transforms her pain,
Recognizing the divine feminine,
And love as her true home.
When you're comfortable,
Then I'll begin.
There is a woman,
Alone on the beach of the Greek island of Naxos.
She loves walking by the sea,
Feeling the warm sand under her feet,
And listening to the sound of the sea.
Her name is Princess Ariadne.
Ariadne is a woman of power.
Many times she has listened to the whispers of Mother Earth,
Gently calling us to remember who we really are,
And that we're never alone.
But in this moment she's all by herself,
And feels so deeply betrayed by her lover that she's almost blind to the beauty around her.
Ariadne tries to breathe.
She sighs.
She cannot stop crying.
Theseus promised to marry her.
She helped him defeat the Minotaur,
And gave him the one thing that would save his life,
A thread to guide him safely out of the labyrinth.
She shared her world and all her love with Theseus,
Knowingly risking her kingdom and safety.
One night,
Theseus stole away,
Leaving Ariadne's open heart to stand and breathe by itself.
She breathes in and breathes out.
Theseus deceived himself.
He thought he could commit to such a powerful woman.
He was given the keys to love,
But by his nature was too weak to play his part.
He could not return her passion.
So he ran away.
For the first time in her life,
Ariadne is facing the power of forsaken love.
Why does it hurt to love?
What does it take to break a heart?
Ariadne shivers.
The wind is chilly.
She watches the waves,
Hearing them crash on the beach.
Her throat is pulsating with anger.
It is so unfair.
For a desperate moment there's just the memory of his face,
And oh,
How her body remembers and yearns for her lover.
He is so close,
Yet out of reach.
Her mind cannot stop thinking of him,
And she doesn't want to stop.
Once again tears rise.
Her chest hurts.
Her breath is short.
Her heart is broken,
Snapped like a branch by a harsh wind.
Questions torment Ariadne.
How could you steal away in the dark while I slept?
What made you desert me?
You renounced the deepest moments of our fragile,
Naked,
Wonderful love.
You hid your beauty,
All your vulnerability and manly power.
Instead of sharing them with me,
A woman.
Breathe in,
And breathe out.
I opened my heart.
We laughed together,
We shared power together.
Now,
What can life offer me?
A deep yearning burns inside Ariadne.
Waves of fire overwhelm her.
The depth of her emotions call her to remember.
What?
In bitter suffering she's no longer the person she once was.
Ariadne feels a wrenching pain.
I will never love again,
Never live again.
Everything seems lost.
She despairs,
Feeling neither a hope nor future.
She has been wronged,
Cheated and disrespected.
Ariadne has hit rock bottom.
Everything is falling apart.
Chaos.
Ariadne surrenders.
I live to love no more.
No longer love.
But the world keeps on turning.
Everything is changing constantly.
Nothing can be held onto.
When all is lost,
There's nothing to lose.
Ariadne starts letting go of her desires.
Theseus is gone.
Ariadne stops clinging to the faint hope of turning time back.
A peace so strange in dark moments like this begins to mend what has been broken.
A realization begins to dawn.
She hears a gentle whisper.
You are the mistress of the labyrinth,
The life force and the love.
Ariadne embraces her shame,
Guilt and fear.
A feeling of immense freedom,
Love and clarity fill her entire being.
I am love's daughter,
A jewel of an unending dawn.
The feminine divine power moves through me.
Everything is perfect the way it is.
My wings are strong,
So let them soar once more.
By letting go,
She gradually finds comfort and it feels so good.
Slowly the darkness in her starts to lighten.
A realization begins to dawn on her.
My mind is clearing,
Becoming wide,
Wide as the sky.
My breath is like the ocean.
It comes and goes.
The ocean waves swell and the power of the feminine rises in me.
Mother Earth is lifting me up.
Ariadne relaxes further.
The natural rhythm of the ocean and her breath rise and fall as one.
She surrenders completely.
Everything becomes part of the ocean.
She breathes in and she breathes out.
Her breath becomes deep and calm.
For the first time Ariadne feels safe and she falls into a deep sleep.
The waves are constantly moving.
The tides are the life force of our oceans.
Ariadne listens to them.
Days later a larger picture emerges.
She understands that constant change is the rhythm transforming our lives.
You climb up to descend again.
Every woman is challenged to walk,
Live and love in her power.
Ariadne is not the only one called to let the light shine in her heart.
Farewell,
Theseus.
I am beautiful just the way I am.
I feel alive and free again.
Ariadne smiles.
She lies down,
Makes herself comfortable and relaxes completely.
Resting her hands on Mother Earth,
She is willing to let go.
She surrenders to gravity and feels the power of the Earth rising from the ground,
Filling every inch of her body.
The life force animates everything,
Although it has neither form nor color.
She feels secure and surrenders to the energy.
Her consciousness seems to take root in the Earth.
She feels the strength,
Solidity and warmth of the planet.
She lets go of all resistance and sinks deeper.
Breathing out,
Her eyes soften.
She smiles.
Her mind quiets itself.
Her thoughts dissolve.
Without effort,
Everything dissipates.
There's nothing to do.
She merges with the boundless,
Open space.
Peace.
Ariadne realizes the power of Mother Earth is limitless.
She lets go once again,
Gently sinking deeper and deeper.
Letting go of her desires and longings is so easy.
She relinquishes all concepts and judgments.
Ariadne has become one with the life force.
This is her true home.
Bliss.
She feels deeply relaxed.
The power of the Earth continues to flow upwards,
Filling her body,
Supporting and nourishing her.
Every molecule of her being is shining with light and love.
Ariadne is reborn.
Now she is happy to help all beings,
All women,
All men,
All children.
Da da da da da da da.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hmm.
