While emotions often arise spontaneously, we can choose how to respond to them and how much power they have over us. Choosing what we feel involves acknowledging our emotions and deciding whether to embrace, express, or let them go. By practicing self-awareness, we can influence our emotional state and shift negative feelings into more positive ones. Although we can’t always control what we feel in the moment, we have the ability to choose how we interpret and react to those feelings. Ultimately, choosing what we feel is an empowering act that allows us to take control of our emotional well-being.
