Transcript

Find a comfortable position either sitting on a chair with your feet on the ground or lying on your back.

Let's start with a few deep breaths.

Just breathing in and then releasing out.

Enjoying the way air feels passing through your nose.

Feeling your diaphragms giving you what you need.

You breathe and you receive.

All the stories are right there.

They're right in front of you.

You can watch them like they're a movie.

Your only job is to speak aloud what you see and feel and know.

You're not making anything up.

It's all already there.

All you have to do is speak it.

Take another deep breath.

Feel in your bones that you know exactly what to do.

Exactly what to say.

You know which stories to tell and when and how.

You were born for this.

It is why you are here now in this room.

When you're done listening to this it will be easy to let your stories flow out of you.

To sink into that wonderful place underneath the real world.

Under the surface,

Down in the depths,

Below who you are.

Your story is waiting for you.

Another deep breath.

And then we'll do some three part breaths.

Exhale.

And inhale,

Two,

Three,

Pause.

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Pause.

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Pause.

Feel how full you are.

Your collarbone's pressing.

And then let it out.

Slowly,

Easily,

Gently.

Just like your story.

You don't have to force it.

You breathe and you receive.

Your story is with you always.

Let's take one more three part breath together.

Exhale.

And inhale,

Two,

Three,

Pause.

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Pause.

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Pause.

Feel how full you are.

And slowly,

Gently,

Easily release the breath.

Let your breath come naturally.

Just like your story.

When you open your eyes,

You'll be ready to write,

Ready to create,

Excited for the adventure,

Excited for the fun and the power and the pleasure that writing brings to you and others.

I'm going to count backwards from five.

Five,

Four,

Coming back into your skin now,

Three,

Two,

Opening your eyes,

Ready to write,

One.

Turn to your story.

It is waiting for you.

I LOVED this beautiful meditation which was, above all, full of truth. I love that you call our creations “stories.” They are and we are storytellers. I will return to this practice again. Thank you! 🙏

I use this meditation before every writing session! It really does help me slow down and think about my story before I put words on the page, I love it!
