It's time to slow down now.
It's time to rest.
Your body does so much every day,
Whether you know it or not.
It's learning every step of the way.
Let's help it unwind and let go of all of that work from today.
Settle your body the best you can and make sure you have everything you need.
If you need to get anything else,
A drink of water,
An extra blanket,
Get it and come right back.
Take a deep breath in through your nose and let it out through your mouth.
In and out.
In and out.
In and out.
Now just breathe normally,
However feels good to you.
Close your eyes and snuggle in.
Let's imagine something together.
Imagine that you're sitting on a big grassy hill.
You're able to look down onto a valley and you can see a long winding road going in and out between some other hills.
Before long,
You see a big box truck wind its way along the road,
Along the curves,
In and out between the hills.
As it gets to the point in the road in front of you and your hill,
It stops.
You notice the truck.
What color is it?
What do you think is inside?
The back of the truck opens and inside there is lots of space.
The truck is waiting to be loaded up with something.
It's waiting to be loaded up with things that you can let go of from your day so you can drift off to sleep.
Each time a thought pops into your mind,
Imagine it as a box that can float right out of your head.
Each box gets loaded into the back of the truck.
In all of these boxes are things that you're putting to the side for now.
Maybe you will come back to them tomorrow.
Maybe not.
Let go of things you did today or didn't get to do today.
Things you hope to do.
Times you felt worried or scared.
Times you were excited or interested.
All of these things become boxes that are loaded into the truck.
Once the truck is full of boxes,
The back of the truck closes.
It drives away slowly,
Driving along the curves of the road once again,
In and out,
Around and around.
The truck drives along,
Tooting its horn to say goodbye right before it goes around the final bend and out of sight.
You are safe and comfortable on the hill.
You lie back on the grass and look up at the sky.
You see clouds passing by,
Slowly,
Slowly,
And you see yourself back in your bed,
Snuggled up and safe,
Ready for rest.
You are fun,
You are confident,
You are loved.
Rest well,
Sweet one.
