Hello and welcome to this guided meditation and liver acupressure practice.
This practice is here to support the smooth flow of energy through the liver.
So if you've been feeling frustrated,
Stuck,
Or like your energy just hasn't been moving,
You're exactly where you need to be.
Before we settle in,
Let's find a position for today's practice.
There are two options for this practice.
Either seated on the floor with the knees bent and feet flat,
Folding gently over the knees,
Or seated in a chair with the feet flat on the floor and folding gently forward from the hips.
In both positions,
You should be able to easily touch the tops of your feet.
Take a moment to choose what feels right for your body today and settle in to that position.
Now,
Let's find the source point of the liver meridian where we will be doing our acupressure today.
Take the finger and place it in the webbing between your big toe and second toe.
Now slide it slowly up along the top of the foot towards the ankle until you feel the two bones of your first toe and of your second toe rising up on either side of your finger.
Keep sliding until your finger drops into a natural dip between these two bones right before they intersect.
This is the point we'll be working on today.
You may already feel some tenderness there.
Take that as information,
Noticing it without judgment.
Now on both feet,
Take the knuckle of the index finger and begin to drop your weight gently into that point,
Allowing gravity to assist you.
Let the pressure be firm,
No need to be forceful.
Meeting that point with intention.
Allow the eyes to flutter closed.
Start to bring your attention to the breath.
In this position,
We are folded forward and the breath is being channeled into the back body.
See if you can feel the breath expanding the back body.
On your next inhale,
Notice the lower back expanding outward and backward.
The back ribs softening apart.
Notice the space between the shoulder blades gently widening,
Creating space in the body with the breath.
Start to gently bring the awareness to the points underneath the knuckles where you are placing the pressure.
Notice what you feel there.
Is it tenderness?
Pressure?
Heat?
Is it pulsing?
Whatever sensations are there,
Breathe into them and allow them to wash over you.
Resist the urge to pull away from the sensations,
Instead staying deeply rooted within the body.
Sometimes this practice brings intense emotions to the surface.
Other times,
Maybe not.
Whatever you feel,
Continue to feel it in your body.
Oftentimes our minds will try to add a story to accompany a feeling.
To intellectualize it and take us out of our body.
If you start to feel your mind doing this,
Notice and gently guide your awareness back to the body.
Feel whatever sensations may arise in your body.
Noticing the visceral feelings that are flowing through you and out of you with each inhale and each exhale.
On the inhale,
Create space around this point.
Let the breath soften the tissue,
The tension,
Whatever you may be holding in this area.
On the exhale,
Allow yourself to release and sink deeper into your knuckles,
Letting gravity assist you.
Allow the exhale to carry whatever release may come.
Continue to breathe through whatever comes up here.
On your next inhale,
Start to imagine a green light entering your body through the points beneath your index knuckles.
This light is pure energy,
A vibrant green of new growth,
Like springtime.
On your next inhale,
See it start to travel up the feet towards the inside of the ankles.
Watch as the energy of growth brings new vitality to the tissues that it passes through.
On your next inhale,
Begin to see it travel to the inside of your ankle and up the insides of your lower legs,
Between the calves and the shins.
Calming and releasing as it goes.
On your next exhale,
Imagine old frustration,
Stuck energy,
Anything that has been pulling or pressurizing,
Leaving the body on the exhale as a kind of gray smoke.
Watch it leave,
Dissolving,
Gone away.
Inhale the green energy in as it moves towards the inside of your knees and up your inner thigh,
Into the lower abdomen.
Watch as this green energy creates space,
Stimulating the flow of energy as it goes,
Clearing the path for anything that might need to flow through.
And with each exhale,
Whatever does not serve you,
Anything that has been held,
Stagnant and without release,
Moves out.
And you see it leaving the body in a gray smoke.
Continue to feel the energy of this vibrant green light as these pillars of energy from each leg start to cross over each other at your lower abdomen.
Imagine them making the shape of an X as they move towards the sides of your torso.
With each inhale,
More vibrant green life force energy moves in.
And with each exhale,
Whatever is stagnant leaves as a gray smoke.
Inhale as each pillar of green light travels up the sides of the torso,
Noticing any sensations at the source point that may come,
Maybe warmth or pulsing.
Maybe you feel the sensation radiating,
Maybe you don't.
Just notice.
One more deep inhale to bring the green light all the way up through the base of your ribcage until it reaches the space underneath the sixth rib,
Right beneath the nipple.
Allow it to find a home in this space and fill it up completely.
And on your next exhale,
Allow your body to finish releasing what it no longer needs.
Slowly begin to release the pressure on the points of your feet.
Feel free to find small movements in the hands and in the fingers,
Thanking them for their strength and support through this practice.
If you're sitting on the floor,
Slowly begin to roll onto your back,
Vertebra by vertebra,
Finding a comfortable position to lie down.
If you have taken this practice in a chair,
Feel free to find a comfortable seat or a nice spot to lie down.
We will rest here and allow the source point to integrate.
The energy from this practice that has been released is still moving and still trying to flow.
Notice the body here.
Notice any warmth,
Any spaciousness,
Any areas that might feel different than when you arrived.
No judgment,
Just notice.
In today's practice,
We targeted the source point of the liver meridian.
In traditional Chinese medicine,
The liver governs our capacity to move forward,
To make decisions,
To process emotion,
And to let what is finished be finished.
By working on this point today,
You have invited your energy back into flow,
Releasing anything that was stagnant,
Frustrating,
Or did not serve you.
When you're ready,
Begin to deepen the breath.
Slowly find small movements,
The fingers and the toes,
Finding circles in the wrists and in the ankles.
Slowly begin to bring yourself back to a comfortable seat.
Take your time.
There is no rush.
On your next inhale,
Allow the eyes to gently flutter open.
Whatever was stuck today,
You have begun to move it.
Thank you for joining this meditation and acupressure practice.
And I hope that you carry this openness with you into the rest of your day.
