Vulnerability.
Reach out,
Dear one,
Reach out.
There is strength,
There is power,
In asking for what you need.
Asking for help,
Asking for support,
Asking for love,
Is not a sign of weakness.
Rather,
It is a headline of strength.
Many have been taught just the opposite.
Don't need anyone or anything.
I want to shout from the rooftops,
No,
No,
No!
Allow yourself to need people.
You actually do.
So why not embrace the truth that life goes way better when you are open to needing people?
Yes,
I know,
Allowing yourself to need people makes you vulnerable.
The dreaded V word.
However,
Vulnerability is a pathway to the juice,
The sweetness,
The nectar of life.
Vulnerability opens you to receiving what you long for most,
Love and acceptance,
Being known and needed,
And yes,
Intimacy.
Vulnerability is the magnet that attracts your heart's desires.
Yes,
I know,
Vulnerability has a bad name.
Don't be vulnerable,
You could get hurt.
Don't wear your heart on your sleeve.
Don't ever let them see you sweat.
Don't don't don't.
Because in conventional society,
The thought of vulnerability sparks a lot of don'ts.
Yet those don'ts can become self-imposed barriers to your best life.
And I want more for you and all Americans.
Our forebears did not say it this way,
But consider this,
Life,
Liberty,
And the pursuit of happiness in their fullness depend on the risk of vulnerability.
All three are facets of freedom.
And at its core,
Vulnerability is the lifeblood of freedom.
This is why I am urging you and all Americans to venture deeply into the world of vulnerability.
Allow yourself to test the waters of vulnerability by first asking yourself what you really want.
Go deeper and ask again.
Go deeper still.
Listen intently to the recesses of your very soul.
And be guided by the whispers you hear.
Be vulnerable.
Where can vulnerability serve you?
