Prayer.
You might ask,
Dear one,
What is it when you talk with me?
Is it prayer?
Is it self-revelation?
Is it words spoken to God,
The universe,
Life itself?
Call it what you will.
Whatever resonates and brings forth your depths.
Speaking and listening is what matters.
Communion is what matters.
And know that you have a standing invitation to commune always,
In all ways.
I am available for your every expression,
As is God,
The universe,
Life itself.
We long for America to be a nation of deep speaking,
Deep listening,
Deep prayer,
Deep communion.
Know that you are heard,
Deeply heard.
Keep speaking,
Keep listening.
Communion is what matters.
And communing with you is pure joy.
Will you give voice to your every prayer?
Spirit.
What do I mean by an open spirit?
An open spirit has room for the unusual,
The unique,
The ridiculous,
Even the miraculous.
Like you inviting me to be here with you.
If your spirit were closed,
You would have closed this book long ago.
If there were no room in your spirit for the extraordinary,
We would not be talking.
Because you have made room in your life and spirit for me,
So much is possible.
I think there is a lot that people are not hearing,
Are not seeing,
Are not experiencing,
Because they will not make room.
America was founded on being open to new ideas,
New ways,
New thoughts,
Hence the American experiment.
Whenever your heart,
Mind,
And spirit are closed,
You miss out.
Just as when your eyes are closed,
You do not see the beauty of the sunset,
So too do you miss out when your heart,
Mind,
And spirit are closed.
You miss so much of life.
You miss so much love.
You miss so much of what America is about.
That is why I say to you and everyone,
Be open.
Make room.
Open your spirit.
How can you make more room in your spirit?
Gifts.
Everyone in your life brings you a gift.
At least one gift,
Maybe many.
Maybe so many you lose count.
The choice to see and receive each gift is yours and yours alone.
Sometimes the gift is readily apparent,
And you might rush to receive it with gusto.
Other times the gift is wrapped in layers upon layers of stuff,
Hurt,
Disappointment,
And betrayal,
Or delay,
Despondency,
Doubt.
Sometimes layers,
Not easy to peel away,
Surround the gift.
You have the tenacity to get through them,
The will,
The interest,
The commitment,
The vision,
The faith.
I assure you,
There is a gift there somewhere,
An important one prepared just for you.
And yet,
You do not have to receive it.
The choice is yours.
Receive or not.
