Welcome fellow dream weavers,
To a realm of enchantment.
Tonight we'll embark on a journey into the depths of our inner worlds.
The journey will be a sweet one,
Soft and comforting.
And too it shall be a fun one,
Intriguing and engaging.
By the end of our time together,
You'll be roaming around inside your own mind,
Gently lulled into a restful sleep by my words.
To get us there,
I request that you now find a cosy spot and get as comfortable as you can.
The how you get comfortable is up to you of course,
A bed,
A couch,
A reclining chair,
Whatever it may be.
Find your space now,
Get settled,
Close your eyes and let the external world fade away and your internal world light up.
This is a place where all is well and magic reigns supreme.
And so we're ready to begin our adventure together,
Our little bedtime story.
Tonight's story is called The Skykeeper.
Once upon a time,
There lived a young woman named Alex.
Alex was born and raised on her family's farm,
A peaceful place set amongst the backdrop of rolling hills,
Just on the outskirts of a quaint old village.
One evening on her 18th birthday,
As the sun dipped below the horizon and the first stars began to twinkle,
Alex heard a faint whisper coming from the old oak tree.
At the edge of her family's farm,
The voice called out to her,
Alex,
Follow me and I'll show you wonders beyond your wildest dreams.
Intrigued by the voice,
Alex tiptoed through the darkness and came to the base of the old oak tree.
To her surprise,
A tiny glowing seed lay at the tree's roots,
Pulsating with an otherworldly aura and hum.
What on earth is this?
She said in shock.
Then the energy struck her and she was overcome by a great vision of her climbing a vine into the heavens.
The tree spoke again,
Plant my seed in the softest soil of your family's farm and it shall grow like nothing you've ever seen before.
Alex's heart pounded with excitement as she placed the seed in her palm and gently pressed it to her chest.
A warm sensation spread through her being.
Thank you,
She said to the tree,
I'll do as you request.
And with that,
She turned and set off home.
The next morning,
Alex woke early and began her mission.
I must find the softest soil,
She said,
Remembering,
Hurrying off to ask her parents if they knew where that would be.
Sure,
I can show you a spot,
Said her father.
Just like that,
He whisked her off to the very distant edges of their land.
Once there,
He pointed,
This is the spot you're looking for.
She smiled wide,
Thrilled,
And got on her knees to plant it.
And so,
Each morning henceforth,
Alex tended to the magical seed with love and care.
And soon,
It sprouted into an extraordinary vine,
Stretching up towards the heavens.
The vine was incredible looking,
Adorned with shimmering leaves that glowed like the sun.
Perhaps I could climb it,
Alex thought one night whilst looking up.
It would be a mighty adventure,
That's for sure.
And so,
Gathering her courage,
She set off up the vine,
Her heart swelling with happiness as she climbed higher and higher,
Ascending into the night sky.
As she climbed,
She encountered strange beings from realms unseen,
Fairies who sprinkled colourful dust over her,
Wise tree spirits who shared their secrets,
And playful moon sprites who danced by her side.
Hmm,
What curious things,
Alex thought,
Her heart overflowing with thanks for the magical world she was now discovering.
Eventually,
The vine led her all the way up to the Sky Keeper's realm.
The Sky Keeper was a magnificent,
Celestial giant who guarded the balance of the heavens and the land below.
His eyes sparkled,
And as Alex gazed into them,
It was as if she was gazing upon a million tiny galaxies.
Suddenly his voice boomed like thunder.
Hello,
He said,
Greeting Alex with a kind smile.
Young one,
You've somehow found your way to the heavens,
So I shall grant you one gift in reward for your efforts.
What do you desire?
She stood there,
Amazed,
Thinking for a moment,
Distant thunder echoing.
Then Alex humbly replied,
Oh great Sky Keeper,
I seek no material wealth or power.
All I desire is to share the magic of this journey with my family and friends,
To show them the beauty of the worlds above.
The Sky Keeper nodded,
Understanding Alex's words.
As you wish,
He said,
And with a touch of his huge,
Giant hand,
The vine transformed into countless glowing seeds,
Each one containing the distilled essence of the magical realms that Alex had explored that night.
Take these with you,
Said the Sky Keeper,
And give one seed to everyone you know.
With that,
The thunder stilled,
And in its place emerged the sound of chirping birds.
Alex felt refreshed.
And so,
With a pouch full of magical seeds,
Alex glided back down to her village,
Gently,
Like a feather.
And once back on Terra Firma,
She shared the seeds amongst her friends and family,
Just as the Sky Keeper had instructed.
Thanks Alex,
A friend exclaimed,
Oh my,
Said her mother,
Eyeing her seed up closely.
At first,
No one was quite sure what to do with their gifts,
But as time went on,
The seeds began to touch the villagers' hearts,
And they too saw visions of the enchanting worlds above.
So,
One night,
The villagers gathered to discuss their experiences.
A few days later,
One of the villagers finally gathered up the courage to plant their seed in the ground,
And just like Alex's seed before it,
It sprouted quickly and grew.
I can't believe it,
I'm going up to explore,
Shouted the villager.
And then,
Days later,
Someone else planted theirs,
Then another,
And another,
Until there were a hundred vines all reaching up to the heavens.
Oh my,
Said Alex,
Chuckling,
Whatever have I started?
One by one,
People ventured up,
And when they eventually came back down,
Sometimes mere hours later,
Sometimes many weeks,
They were somehow different,
Transformed and enlightened beyond belief.
And from there,
A new age in the village began,
The age of the Sky Keepers.
Well done Alex,
Said the oak tree one night during a visit,
I always knew you could do it.
Let it be known,
Fellow Dreamweaver,
That there are similar seeds in your realm.
So it's advised that you keep your eyes out and your ears pricked,
In much the same way Alex did in her realm all those years ago.
Because truly,
You never know when you'll be called upon to start the adventure of a lifetime too.
Perhaps today,
Perhaps tomorrow,
But with an open heart and an open mind,
I do not doubt for a second that it will happen,
Likely when you least expect it.
Until we meet again then,
Fellow Dreamweaver,
Sleep well,
For the dream realms are calling you now,
Reaching out with their gentle touch,
Goodnight to you and sweet dreams.
