Hey friends,
Let's take a moment to check in with your five senses here today.
Find a comfortable seat,
Lay down,
Or maybe stand up and gaze out a window.
Take a nice deep breath in and a big lug-mirth out.
Just allowing yourself to have the next few moments to arrive in your seat,
In your place.
Maybe you wiggle a bit,
Maybe you shift.
Allow the arrival to happen and then find a sense of stillness.
Allowing your eyes to close down and your breath to flow naturally.
And then as you're ready,
Begin to bring awareness to your sense of taste.
Maybe you just took a sip of tea or coffee,
Or you just had lunch or breakfast or a snack.
Notice if there's any lingering taste in your mouth.
Bring awareness to the sensation of your mouth.
Notice if there is a strong taste or a more subtle taste.
Notice if these tastes bring up any emotions or thoughts or feelings.
Just allow yourself to sit with that for one moment.
Next,
Bring your awareness to your sense of smell.
Take a nice big inhale through your nose,
Absorbing all the sense around you in.
Maybe you have a candle lit or essential oils diffusing or food cooking in another room.
Maybe you smell your own shampoo or nature outside your window.
Notice what sense are close,
Strong.
Notice the sense that are more subtle in the background.
Soak in all these different sense,
Inhaling through your nose and letting it go.
Noticing if any of these sense bring up a feeling,
An emotion,
A memory.
Just allow yourself to sit with that for a moment.
Next,
Bring your awareness to your sense of hearing.
Maybe it's my voice coming through your speakers or the sound of someone else or something else in the room next to you.
Even the sound of the leaves or the trees or the nature right outside your window.
Maybe you even notice the sound of your own breath as you inhale and exhale.
Maybe you hear something out of your left ear more than your right or your right ear more than your left.
Bring awareness to those subtle differences.
Notice the sounds all around you and all within you.
And just allow yourself to focus on that,
To take it all in for a moment.
Slowly,
Start to bring awareness to your sense of touch.
Notice how your clothes feel against your skin,
The temperature of the air on your skin.
Notice where you're seated and connected to the earth beneath you,
Whether that be through your feet,
Through your sits bones,
Or maybe even through your entire back as you lay down.
Notice all the places your body touches another object surface beneath you.
Notice your hair tickling your neck or your ears.
Just bring awareness to every texture,
Sensation,
Feeling against your skin.
And some might not feel what you expected.
Acknowledge that.
Maybe even adjust as needed.
But take it all in.
Allow it to create this picture of where you are right here,
Right now,
And soak it in.
And last but not least,
Begin to flutter your eyes open and look at the world all around you.
Look at the colors,
The textures,
The objects,
The things.
Maybe you're looking out a window and see all the textures of Mother Nature.
Maybe you're indoors and looking all around your room,
Noticing objects that bring you joy,
That give you memories.
Notice it all.
Take it all in.
Allow it to create this perfect picture of where you are right here.
Allow yourself to be fully present in the moment,
To take in all your senses,
All your sensations of right here,
Right now.
Create this beautiful picture of where you are and how you feel.
Just bring awareness to the here and now.
Take one final breath in and let it go.
