This practice is called mentor bonding.
It could also be called exemplar practice.
The idea of this practice is to connect with a mentor,
An entity or spirit,
Something that moves you and that will enable you to embody the qualities of that spirit or that entity.
This is for building confidence,
Building alignment and purpose.
So take a deep breath to ground yourself into the breath.
Take a deep breath in and out.
Let's do a couple more like that.
Breathing in and out.
Gentle conscious breaths,
Awakening the system a little deeper than the typical breath.
Take a deep breath in and release.
Take a moment to notice your feet on the floor,
Your sit bones in the chair,
Or if you're lying down to notice your back against the fabric of your bed or your mat.
Just notice using the sense of touch what you're experiencing.
So now we'll begin the practice.
Bring to mind an entity that embodies the qualities that you're looking to create in your life right now.
It could be any entity or person,
Imaginary or real,
That you can picture.
It could be Jesus.
It could be Obi-Wan Kenobi.
It could be an animal that has the spirit that you're looking for right now,
The courage or the craftiness.
It could be a musician that you're looking to sound like or be like.
Whatever this entity is,
Welcome this entity here.
Welcome the entity into the room using your best,
Most vivid imagination to bring this being to be present with you here,
Sitting across from you,
Having tea with you,
Ready to connect.
And like a special guest,
Imagine any way that you might welcome this guest right here,
Right now.
Perhaps offering them a comfortable chair,
Spreading out a seating area for them to relax.
And the next stage is admiring.
Take a moment to admire the qualities that this entity has,
Whatever the qualities may be.
Use your imagination again and get really close to the qualities.
If they're strong,
Imagine how strong.
What kind of strength would you call it?
If they're brave,
How brave?
If they're talented,
Visionary.
If they're peaceful,
Serene,
Loving.
Whatever the qualities are,
Just start to admire them like the amazing entity that they are and everything that you appreciate about them.
This is a moment to be in awe of this entity.
Take a deep breath and breath of awe to behold the awesome qualities of this entity in front of you.
Move on to step three,
Which is gratitude.
Take a moment to thank this entity for arriving here today in this moment to be with you.
Recognizing the tremendous sacrifice and work and all of the things it took for this entity to be here today.
What they may have endured in their lifetime or even in the imaginary space.
Be thankful,
So thankful to this person or this entity.
Everything that they have given to be here.
Feel deeply grateful and in debt.
Stage four is called confession.
When sitting before this entity,
It's natural to feel a little bit less than or aspirational.
Maybe someday I'll share some qualities,
But I'm not ready,
We might think.
Admit this in your own way to this entity as if you were on your knees saying,
Dear entity,
I just don't measure up.
I don't know how I will ever measure up.
It's okay to be vulnerable to this entity.
This is a hero.
This is a hero.
And the hero will understand this perspective.
Stage five is acceptance.
Now using all of the strength and creativity of your imagination,
Imagine the entity letting you know that everything is okay.
Everything you just confessed is understandable,
But also not true.
You can embody the qualities of this entity.
You can choose to do so right now.
The entity is saying to you,
And I want you to hear these words.
You're exactly where you need to be right now.
You're on the path.
Everything is absolutely okay.
You're on your way.
You know.
You brought yourself here,
And you brought me here with you.
You know exactly what you need to do.
You know exactly who you need to be.
I'm here for you,
And I understand.
Take that in with all of your imagination,
Allowing that to flow in.
Really feel that sense of that entity telling you that everything is absolutely accepted and okay.
More than okay.
It's exactly perfect.
It's exactly perfect.
Stage six.
It's becoming.
As your time here with this entity is coming to a close,
You can imagine the entity stands up to leave or begins to hover above you as you sit.
But instead of leaving,
The entity rises up in the room.
Just in front of you.
And suddenly transforms into a ball of light and energy.
It descends down into the crown of your head,
The very top of your head,
And slides gently down your spine.
Into your heart.
Into your soul.
This entity has fused with you.
You've brought the entity here,
And the entity has accepted you and become you.
And now it is from this perspective that you can begin your day or your meditation.
Or your next task.
You have the full power of this entity within you.
You may act as if from here on.
Take a moment to straighten your spine.
Feel the pride and swell of the energy of this entity.
Who is merged with your soul.
And become a part of you.
Feel any of the goodness that you feel from this experience.
And note it.
Remember it.
Let's take three more deep breaths to seal the practice.
Deep breath in.
And out.
Take another deep breath in.
And out.
Take another deep breath in.
And release.
You can now arise and move on with your day.
