So welcome to this slumberland sleep story.
I'll be your guide as you relax in the grounds of the most beautiful monastery holding a magical whirring clockwork mouse.
As it moves around in your hand,
Listening to the gentle rustling of the leaves on the trees.
Watching white,
Wispy clouds wander across the sky,
To the healing scent of chamomile and pine.
And I wish you the most peaceful nights,
Sleep and pleasant dreams.
And before we begin,
You can take a few moments to settle down comfortably.
You can shift about a little if you need to,
To make yourself even more comfortable.
And when you're ready.
You can let your eyes gently close.
And as the story unfolds.
You can take a few deep relaxing breaths.
Allowing the out breaths to be a little longer than the in breaths.
This triggers the body's natural relaxation response.
And so as you relax.
You can find yourself resting in that monastery.
You can be looking at that clockwork mouse on your hand.
Hearing the whirring of the cogs within the mouth.
Perhaps occasionally stroking that mouse,
Feeling how soft the fur is on that mouse.
Noticing what that mouse looks like.
It's slightly automatic movements.
The way that it shifts on the palm of your hand.
And as you watch that mouse,
You can then carefully lower the palm of your hand down to the ground.
Letting that mouse run off of your hand onto the grass.
Watching as that clockwork mouse.
Runs around on the grass,
Weaving among the fronds of grass.
Sitting back up but keeping your eyes on the mouth.
As it appears to be erratically running around,
With no rhyme or reason.
Of why it's moving as it is.
Of what within the clockwork innards of the mouse.
Are driving its decision making.
Perhaps its decision making is random.
Maybe it's decision making.
Has some purpose,
Yet unseen.
And as you rest and watch them now.
While the white,
Wispy clouds pass gently overhead.
You can feel.
Coolness of the breeze against your cheeks.
Noticing the way the grass waves gently under the breeze.
And how with each gentle gust of wind.
The scent of chamomile and pine.
Wafts into your senses.
Increasing your feeling of calmness and peace.
And your eyes feel so relaxed.
As they settle on that mouse,
Just following it as it scurries around the grass.
Until eventually the mouse comes to a halt.
And you stand up.
You walk slowly and rhythmically.
To the location of the mouth.
You sit down and cross your legs.
Picking up that mail.
Placing it in the palm of your hand.
Turning that mouse over.
Pressing a point on its belly.
That opens a small door.
And within that door.
Is a small handle.
With your thumb and forefinger.
You wind that handle.
And it takes about three or four revolutions.
To fully wind up the clockwork mouse.
Hearing the sound of that winding.
Until it's fully wound.
And then once letting go of the handle,
Its feet start to move.
You cover the handle back over again.
Place it back down on the grass.
From this new position.
You continue to watch as that mouse scurries around.
Seemingly erratically finding its own path through the grass.
Sometimes heading left,
Sometimes right,
Sometimes heading straight forward other times.
Heading back the way it came.
Sometimes circling around.
And after a few minutes.
It comes to a halt again.
You stand up and you head to that new location.
You pick up the mouse,
Wind it up again.
Placing it back down on the grass.
Watching that mouse once more scurry around.
And you do this 3 or 4 more times.
Covering quite a large area.
This grassy space within this monastery.
Until eventually.
.
.
The mouth.
Stops beside a flower.
Sticking out of the grass.
And you crouch down.
And you admire that flower,
Its white petals.
Its green stem.
Its yellow core.
The subtlest,
Pleasant scent from this flower.
You handle the flower so delicately.
So as not to cause any harm to it.
Just tilting it slightly towards your nose as you smell.
Feeling the softness of the petals.
And you've been here in this monastery.
Learning about chaos.
And how chaos is the underlying structure.
Of the universe.
And that perceived order can come from that chaos.
And you are told that this clockwork mouse would aid your learning.
You just had to wind it up.
And you would know.
When to stop winding that mouse up.
And so here you are sat before a flower.
With the most delicate petals.
The faintest pleasant sense.
And you sit cross-legged.
With that flower before you.
You focus your eyes.
On the top of the flower.
Your eyes only moving to track the subtle movement.
Caused.
By the breeze as it flows across this grass.
And wherever the top of the flower moves,
So your eyes follow.
And by keeping your eyes locked on the top of the flower.
So your peripheral vision.
Begins to gently fade away.
As all of your attention.
Focuses deeper and deeper on that flower.
And you notice that the more you focus on the flowers deeper and deeper absorbed you become.
The more detail you begin to notice.
Noticing that on the petal It looks like the edge of each petal.
Has incredibly fine tiny hairs.
And at the surface of each petal.
As tiny hands.
As if perhaps that's what gives them their softness.
And that the green stems.
Seems to almost glow slightly.
And the leaves.
Underneath the petal.
The curling ever so slightly at the sides.
While the center of each leaf holds strong to a point.
And within the heart of that flower.
You recognise.
Geometric pattern that seems to repeat.
You have this sense of zooming your vision in.
To the heart of that flower.
And this pattern continuing.
On smaller and smaller scale.
Like you're looking at a fractal.
And the more focused on the flower you become.
The more you feel your eyes getting heavier and heavier.
Your breathing getting deeper and deeper.
As if you're drifting into the most pleasant meditative experience.
And as you continue to drift.
Into that meditative experience.
You start to have a sense of your mind and body.
Beginning to relax.
You have this sense of.
.
.
Focusing comfortably on the top of your head Notice how your head feels.
Being held in position.
By the muscles around your neck.
You notice.
That soft tickly feeling.
The breeze.
Around your face.
Around your ears.
You notice how comfortable your head feels as it rests there.
And how the muscles around your scalp and the back of your head.
And softening and relaxing.
And how you seem to be drawing in peace and comfort.
Of each breath that you take.
Before finding your awareness.
Drifting around your face.
Aware of the relaxation as it moves around from the back of your head.
The top of your head.
Around your ears and your cheeks.
With those muscles relaxing and softening.
Relaxing the muscles around the eyes.
Across your forehead.
As the muscles.
Around the side of your head and over the top of your head,
Begin to relax deeper.
And deeper.
As you notice how you find that you can pay attention to fading tension or perhaps find that the tension just dissolves without paying it any attention at all.
And as you continue absorbing yourself in the experience.
Notice that you're continuing to allow the relaxation to spread down around your mouth.
Relaxing your lips and your jaw.
Relaxing the muscles around the side of your neck.
Around the back of your neck and around your throat.
As the jaw relaxes and hangs slightly loose and limp and comfortable.
The relaxation can continue to move down to your shoulders and upper back.
And I don't know whether the relaxation.
.
.
Happens fastest around your shoulders or in the upper back or perhaps down the tops or the front of your shoulders.
As that relaxation progresses around your back and your chest.
Softening,
Relaxing those muscles fully.
Deeply.
And comfortably.
And as those muscles soften and relax while you rest there relaxation can begin to spread down the arms to the hands.
All the way down to the tips of your fingers.
And I don't know which arm will relax fully fastest.
Whether it'll be the left arm or the right arm.
Whether the arms will relax at the same rate and speed as each other.
And as that relaxation continues through those arms,
Can flow down through your stomach.
Your sides and lower back.
All the way down to your bottom before extending deeply down through your legs.
The tips of your toes.
And as your body becomes deeper and deeper.
Deeper relaxed.
While you dream.
Into the most pleasant reverie.
So your mind can begin to relax.
You can begin to have a sense of a healing light.
Touching your forehead.
Enveloping your face and head with energy.
Healing deep relaxation.
Absorbing comfortably and gently into you.
Each in-breath that you take.
Filling you with healing peace and calm.
Spreading that healing,
Restorative energy.
Recuperative light down through your body.
Breathing in healing.
Calm relaxation.
And breathing out any stress or tension.
Aware of that healing light.
Passing down your neck.
Softening and relaxing those muscles.
Spreading that healing light.
Throughout the neck as it begins to move down with the next breath.
Your shoulders.
Around the back of your neck and down into your arms.
Gradually continuing that flow of healing light.
All the way to the tips of the fingers.
With another in-breath.
The healing light can spread down through the body.
Softening and relaxing muscles.
Healing deep.
Within the body.
Filling the body with pleasure and deep relaxation as the light journeys down around your stomach.
Your lower back and sides.
Into your buttocks and all the way down your legs.
To the soles of your feet.
Filling your whole body.
With that healing,
Restorative light.
And as you allow that light to flow with each breath.
You can find your mind drifting deeper and deeper into irreverie.
And you find yourself.
Gently opening your mind's eye.
Your actual eyes remain closed.
You open a mind's eye.
And as you open that mind's eye.
You see.
An almost ethereal version of the landscape in this monastery.
Everything around you appears to be glowing.
And moving gently.
Grass is glowing green.
With a green light pulsing softly through each blade.
And that mouse looks dark against all the light.
And you reach down.
You pick up that man.
You turn it over and wind it up.
The more you wind that mouse up the lighter and lighter it becomes.
And once it's fully light.
You place that mouse back down on the ground.
It begins to meander its own path through the landscape.
That light mouse,
Leaving a trail of light behind it.
And your eyes follow that trail of light.
As it weaves through the landscape.
Before reaching a wall and stopping at the foot of that wall.
And you stand up.
And you feel so light.
And weightless here.
As if you're just moving as a spirit.
While leaving the body resting there for now.
Deeper and deeper.
And you head over to the mouth.
You crouch down near the mouse and pick that mouse up.
Placing the mouse in a pocket.
Or so it feels.
And reach out to touch the wall.
And you can feel the texture of the stonework of this wall.
Even though the stone wall and yourself both have an ethereal quality to you.
And while touching that wall.
So the movement of your hand over the stone.
Seems to leave a gentle trail behind.
As if some of the information about what was Angas.
Before you.
And you rest your hand against the wall and gently push.
And it's the softest push.
And yet.
.
.
The wool.
Makes a clicking sound.
And then slides open.
And behind the wall you see a tunnel.
And that tunnel springs to life.
With a glowing,
Pulsing light.
Wrapped down that tunnel.
Helping to guide you deeper and deeper into the experience.
As you walk into the tunnel.
And the sounds change as you enter the tunnel.
A slight echoey sound and yet everything around you including yourself feel like you're on a different plane of existence.
And so everything has a slightly unusual quality to it.
And a deep sense of peace and comfort.
And you follow this tunnel deeper and deeper under the monastery.
Until you find your way.
To a chamber.
You head out into this chamber.
And within the chamber.
You see a plinth.
And on that plinth.
Is a rolled up ancient text.
And you head over to the plane.
You carefully reach for that ancient text.
Lift it up from the plinth.
And although before your eyes everything seems ethereal.
And like it's made of light.
You can feel the texture of the paper.
You can hear the sound.
Of that paper as your fingers move over it.
And as you carefully unroll it before you.
Initially.
The writing on the paper.
That's almost jet black.
And lightless compared to everything else around you.
But then gradually it begins to sparkle.
And the softest hum.
Emanates from that paper.
And the text which looked like letters.
That you couldn't understand.
Begins to go fuzzy.
Shift and form into letters you can read.
That fuzziness and shimmering.
Gets lighter and lighter until the text before you.
Is white light.
Written on that paper.
And you can read what that right light says.
And it speaks.
Achieving freedom.
Not an earthly freedom.
But freedom from your own constraints and limitations.
Through understanding things in a whole new way.
That explains about finding the rhythm of life.
Your own personal rhythm.
Not finding your own purpose,
Not chasing the purposes of others.
And learning the art of stillness.
Quiet.
And being comfortable with sitting with that.
To allow your inner self to be heard.
And as you read all this So a comfortable chair made of light.
Begins to form against the far wall of this chamber.
And you feel a sense of being drawn towards that chair.
And so you head to that chair and you relax yourself down into the chair feeling the comfort of the cushions beneath you.
And behind your back.
Continuing to read.
The ancient text.
Feeling like this comfort here.
Is supposed to help you in some way.
Understand the text on a much deeper level.
And as you read so your eyes move left and right,
Left and right.
With each movement left and right being slightly lower than each previous left and right movement.
As the eyes.
Lower down.
More and more.
And the eyelids gently follow.
Until reaching the end of the text.
Finding the eyes are barely open.
The last words of the text.
Suggest.
You close.
And your brain interprets that as closing the scroll.
At the same time.
Is closing the eyes.
And just feeling how comfortable the seat is beneath you.
Feeling yourself relaxing deeper and deeper into that seat.
And safe.
The lie.
This realm.
Is healing you.
Helping you.
Updating your way of thinking and being with new ideas and new possibilities of how you can choose in the future.
Even when you choose without knowing you've chosen and discover that you've chosen something you didn't know you were choosing,
Just responding in a way.
That's best for you.
In line with who you are and who you want to be.
It all begins to integrate so easily and effortlessly and automatically.
Just by having a sense of stillness.
And the deep comfort.
Of this light chair.
Holds that stillness in place.
You're so comfortable.
You don't want to move or think.
Or wander anywhere else.
Whether in mind or body,
Just relax.
Go with the experience.
And you have this experience through to a point.
Where suddenly.
.
.
You feel light.
The chair is asking you.
Through the way it communicates physically.
To open your eyes and stand up.
And so you stand up from the chair opening your eyes.
You carry the scroll.
Back to that plinth.
Resting the scroll down on the plinth.
And as you place the scroll down on the plinth.
A stone drawer within the plinth slides open.
And within that draw.
Is a very simple looking piece of jewellery.
Just a bracelet that looks unassuming.
And so you take that bracelet,
Have a sense of placing it onto your wrist.
The draw.
Slide shut.
Head out of the chamber.
You notice that the pulsing light in the tunnel is now pulsing in the opposite direction,
Guiding you up and out of the experience.
As you follow.
That pulsing light all the way back out.
Until you exit the wall.
And the wall slides shut behind you.
And you're looking over and seeing yourself.
Resting,
Meditating over there.
You put your hand into your pocket and feel that mouse.
You take the clockwork mouse out of your pocket and wind it up once more and place it on the ground.
And that bright light mouse guides you.
As you follow it all the way back.
Your body resting there.
You feel a sense.
Of turning around.
Sitting down within yourself.
Connecting your mind,
Body and spirit as one.
Noticing that connection happens on the breath.
And with each breath.
And you feel yourself being still for a while,
Breathing.
You feel the light experience fading while you remain breathing and relaxed.
You feel yourself beginning to return.
To relaxing meditating in the monastery.
And slowly opening your eyes and seeing that plant before you.
And feeling a deep sense of having had.
Some kind of epiphany or inner experience.
Of gazing.
At that plant.
And uncovering.
Something deeper about reality.
That's now updated within your neurology.
And you stand up.
Picking up that mouth.
You feel that you've had the experience.
You came to this monastery for.
You walk in a very mindful way through the garden.
Up to the monastery.
Adding to your room.
And on your way to the room.
You pass the chamber.
The head monk meditating.
And as you pass,
So they seem to notice it's you.
And in a soft tone.
Barely interrupting their experience.
They call you into the chamber.
And so you walk slowly,
Carefully into the chamber.
You sit yourself down.
Before the head monk.
They tell you that they can tell.
By the change in your aura.
That you had a change of experience.
And their eyes remain closed.
And you question how they can know you've had an experience.
How they can even see an aura.
Especially with their eyes closed and they tell you.
An aura isn't something you see with your vision.
It's something you see with your heart.
And their eyes being open or closed doesn't change.
What they can see.
And they ask you about the experience.
And you mention about the bracelet that you've got.
And they tell you that that bracelet is a way of connecting the magical realm.
The realm the experience happened within.
With the human realm,
The realm you live day to day within.
That wearing that bracelet.
Knowing it's on your wrist,
Even when you can't see it.
As it fades between one realm and the other.
Only being seen when you need to see it.
And not seen when it can just act.
In your best interest.
Just knowing you're wearing it.
Helps to keep you connected as a mind,
Body and spirit.
And they ask you to put out your hands.
Parma.
They then reach into a pocket and pull out a stone.
Place that stone into the palm of your hand.
You feel the texture of the stone,
How smooth that stone is.
You feel the shape of the stone.
It being a little bit like a slightly squished egg in shape.
You feel the weight of the stones.
It being a little heavier.
Than you expect for a stone of its size.
You observe the colour of the stone,
How dark that stone is,
An almost black stone.
They say to you,
Place the stone in your pocket.
Sleep well tonight.
And tomorrow.
Begin your journey home.
And on your journey home.
You'll notice that stone.
And what's important is finding the right time.
To get rid of the stones.
Before you arrive home.
And then your lessons will be complete.
They then carry on meditating and after a few moments,
Silence.
As they haven't told you to leave.
But they also didn't tell you to stay.
You feel there expecting you to leave the room.
You stand up and leave the chamber.
You head to your room.
You settle down in bed and drift and float,
So comfortably asleep.
Having the most pleasant dreams,
As if your mind is working on what it needs to work on to help you be who you want to be.
And the next morning,
Very early in the morning.
You awaken and say your goodbyes.
And begin your journey home.
You leave the monastery.
You follow a stone road.
That leads away from that monastery.
Through a vast landscape of meadows.
Rich with wildlife.
Grazing deer.
Distant fields of sheep and cow.
Butterflies and bees.
Flitting from plant to plant.
Songbirds singing in the trees and shrubs.
Birds flying overhead.
White wispy clouds drifting across the deep blue sky.
The ever-changing smell of all the wildflowers.
Any combination being so pleasant.
Your nostrils and your mind and body.
Making this journey.
Being the most comfortable experience.
And as you continue this journey.
You feel like that stone.
Is starting to feel awkward within your pocket.
Like from time to time it'll rub on your leg.
So you'll move the orientation of the stone in your pocket.
And it'll move itself back into a position.
As if caused by the movement of your legs,
The rhythm of your walking.
And it'll begin rubbing again and again.
And this continues to happen.
And gets more and more awkward as an experience as time goes on.
And eventually.
.
.
You decide you're going to have to take a break and stop.
Not because your legs are tired.
Or you really feel a need to rest.
But because it's draining,
Constantly dealing.
With this irritation.
And you see.
A lake up ahead and you decide that's a good place to stop.
So you stop on the side of the lake.
And the breeze.
Drifting off the surface of the water brings with it a certain freshness and comfort.
And you rest there for a little while.
You take the stone out of your pocket.
Can you just get this overwhelming urge?
To throw it into this lake.
And so you think of the best way to do this and the best place on the lake shore to do this and when you're ready.
You throw that stone.
As far as you can,
You watch it plop through the surface of the water.
You imagine it drifting.
Down under the water.
Sinking to the earth.
Lakebed.
You feel a sense of relief.
A sense of letting go.
A sense of freedom.
You head back and rest a little longer.
Beside this lake.
Before continuing your journey the rest of the way home.
And to get home you have to head to a specific town,
So you find your way to that town.
You stay overnight in that town.
Before catching a train home the next day.
And wants home when it gets to bedtime.
You head to bed and feel the comfort of your bed.
And while lying in bed.
You ponder the experience you've had,
The lessons you've learned.
How life will be different.
With these lessons.
You find yourself drifting deeper and deeper into your mind.
And then you have this sense.
Of standing at the top of the most beautiful garden.
Knowing that sleep is at the base of the garden.
And your head.
To the steps leading down into the garden.
And as you walk down those steps.
A part of your mind counts you gently down.
Into sleep.
From 10.
Eight,
Going deeper and deeper.
Seven.
Six.
The body relaxing.
As the mind begins to follow.
Five.
The full.
3.
Letting go to two.
Wandering into the garden.
Beginning to explore the garden as the entry point to sleep.
And the most pleasant dreams.
And the deepest,
Most recuperative sleep.
Drifting and floating,
So peacefully asleep.
Into slumberland.
