Rock In A River

Years ago on a hike, I found a rock in a river, lay down, and "disappeared" for the entire day. Join me in this beautiful memory. In this piece, I play the monochord, sing, and improvised the memory as I spoke.

You are walking in a piney woods. The earth is soft yet firm under your feet. The air is so fragrant it renews you. The leaves in sunlight dance and create beautiful shadows. Birds fly here and there. The birds fly circle about. In the distance you hear a river. Its sound is calling you. You make your way to the river's edge and dip your toes in. The water is cold yet invigorating. Out in the middle of the river is a big beautiful flat rock. You make your way to that rock and lay down. You can feel its rough texture and hum. You fit together perfectly as if you were made for each other. You look up into the blue blue sky. Little fluffy clouds flip by. Birds fly over now and then. Butterflies flitter flutter float away on the breeze. You feel yourself merging with the rock and there you are. An ancient rock. It is a different world. It is a different world.
