Hello and welcome.
My name is Courtney Sunday and I am so pleased to be able to be with you.
This particular meditation is for everyone who is finding it hard to meditate.
I have worked as a meditation teacher for many years,
But I've had experiences in my life where the very idea of sitting and breathing was more than I could imagine.
Maybe you are grieving,
Maybe you have had your heart broken,
Maybe life just feels too difficult right now and the concept of breathing deeply is more than you can bear.
Welcome to your practice,
Whatever that looks like.
The fact that you have shown up is frankly remarkable.
For a moment close your eyes,
But only if it feels comfortable.
If it does not,
Do whatever does.
This is your time to connect with yourself.
This is not a time to force relaxation or to force anything for that matter.
Whatever position your body wishes to be in at this moment is the correct position to be in.
And this is just your time to tap into yourself and all of the emotions that come along with being you in this particular moment in time.
There is nothing that you are feeling that is incorrect.
If you are overthinking,
If you are fidgeting,
You are not flawed.
You are not meditating wrong.
You have shown up in a time when most people would not.
You have shown up for yourself.
Everything you are feeling is completely valid.
Let it be.
So right now you do not need to fix yourself or make yourself more whole or more of anything.
It's time to just allow.
Allow all of the mess.
Allow the discomfort.
Allow whatever it is that is underneath all of that.
And then feel where you hold this within your body.
Perhaps it's your jaw,
Perhaps it's your abdomen,
Maybe it's even in your back.
Really notice where you're holding all the stuff and see if you can give that part of your body some compassion and some patience.
See if you can give yourself just a little more love.
You are in a difficult moment and you deserve so much love.
All of the parts of you that are finding it hard to sit still and all of the parts of you that are finding it hard to be in this moment that kind of want to run away,
Deserve your love and attention.
Whatever you're managing to bring back to yourself is a great accomplishment.
Take a moment even to consider the invisible souls that get exactly what you are going through.
Maybe they have far too much in common for you to wish.
And even if these are unknown people,
Even if right now it's hard to imagine that anyone gets it,
Just try to send some love to these unknowns through your inhale and your exhale.
Let's end with just a single minute of silence to do whatever you need to do to feel however you need to feel and to be just as you are.
