As we take a step out of the door,
I'm not really sure where we're going,
But keep walking.
Each step feels like climbing a mountain,
Struggling to move thousands of muscles already working so hard to keep us alive.
Each breath of fresh air feels like a tornado disrupting old parts that are stuck in their ways.
The body slowly starts to remember movement.
Step by step,
Take your steps.
Finally starting to claim each step as our own.
Claiming each affirmation of movement being gifted to life.
Claiming each step as a gift that life always has available for us.
Watching life continue to miraculously form under our feet.
Supporting in each turn,
Each uncertainty,
Each meeting of foot to ground.
Like a reunion,
The earth of the body finally meeting the earth of life as we know it.
In this moment,
Our cells celebrate the reconciliation of stillness amongst the liveness of movement.
Going out or coming home,
Taking steps forward or receiving the ground in front of us.
Opening our hearts or setting boundaries.
This life will always be a tedious balancing act.
When we choose to be in the play of our lives,
We learn the divine dance of listening to our needs.
Listening to what it is in each moment that is the right next step.
What if we surrendered to the next step?
Sometimes you might come to find that the right next step is standing still.
In this stillness,
You might find the subtle movements or the peaceful spaciousness of complete serenity.
You choose and no matter what you choose,
This earth,
The unconditional mother that time and time again welcomes you home will always be excited to have you for a long visit or a short stay.
