Being With Being-Itself: The Immanence Of The Divine

O que você irá aprender
Part of what we know about God is that God is unknowable. And yet we can have a connection to God; and God has a connection to us. God can be experienced; can be seen, heard, felt. We can not only know God, but through stilling ourselves and entering into a place of awakening in which we are fully mindful and available, we can commune - that is simply to be with God; and that God desires to commune with us. This "being with Being-itself" is at the heart of the spiritual life. In this course, you will go deeper into what the Immanence of the Divine means for us, and how this immanence opens us up to the greater expanse of who God is and who you are within the Divine.

Mark Gladman has studied, practiced, and taught the Christian contemplative and mystic spiritual paths for many years. A vowed Benedictine monk, he has become well known for his work as a practical teacher and "spiritual optometrist", mentoring many who desire ways of practically engaging in the teachings of Jesus with fresh and more open eyes....

Lição 1
Part 1: What Is Immanence
In this first lesson, we will reflect on what the meaning of Immanence is in the context of spirituality; and consider some Scriptural texts that both implicitly and explicitly speak to us about the immanence of the Divine.
Lição 2
Lectio Contemplation 1: Scripture Reflection
We pause from the content of the study to spend time in Lectio Divina meditation and contemplation. In this Lectio, we will be meditating on the Scripture texts from Lesson 1. These texts cause us to ponder the Divine's Immanence and what that calls us to as humans living in a world that is infused with the life-source of God.
Lição 3
Part 2: Immanence Vs Transcendence
In this lesson, we will try to get our minds around and embrace the paradox it is that God is both immanent and transcendent. We will explore why this paradox matters, and why we should not push it aside, but instead let the supposed "opposites" here sit with us and draw us deeper into the Divine presence. After all, the immanence (knowability) of God is only possible at the acceptance of God's transcendence (beyond knowing).
Lição 4
Lectio Contemplation 2: Quote Reflection
We pause again from the content of the study to spend time in Lectio Divina meditation and contemplation. In this Lectio, we will be meditating on some quotes that cause us to ponder Divine Immanence and Transcendence, and how these call us to relate to God in deeper and much more rich ways.
Lição 5
Part 3: The Importance Of Immanence
In this final lesson of our study, we look at why Immanence is important. What practical application does appreciating God's immanence (and its relationship to God's transcendence) have to our daily living and spiritual life? Before we finish this course, we will consider these in the hopes that you can take some "So what...?" ideas into your spiritual journey with you.

Thank you! This was so very helpful as I've felt stuck with knowing and feeling God's presence much of the time. I am encouraged that my continued spiritual work is drawing me to the faith I seemed to have "lost." Many blessings to you for this course. I am, indeed blessed by it. 💝🙏💝

Thank you Mark. It was interesting to allow what seemed such distance realities over the sessions to become a flow of life… Being is immanent & transcendent a beautiful mystery.

I have long been interested in unpacking the difference between immanence and transcendence and this course did a great job in explaining and illustrating these ideas. Thought provocative and helpful! Thank you and I look forward to hearing more 🙏🏼❤️

I found this course engaged my mind, heart and spirit in an exploration of what I can (and cannot) know of God and what that might mean for my lived experience. Mark presents ideas and reflections and lots of questions for the listener to consider. I found it well worth working through the course.
