Are you feeling stressed or overwhelmed?
I have a simple tool for you.
It will almost instantly calm your mind,
Soothe the nervous system and bring you back to your inner sound.
It's one of the most accessible and deeply effective breathing tools.
Sit comfortably.
Spine tall.
Relax.
Take a moment to notice if there's any tension in your body.
Tell yourself to let it go.
Close your eyes.
This practice is called Brahmari,
Named after a bee,
Because you're going to hum like a bee,
Soft,
Steady and from inside.
Don't worry about how it sounds.
No one is listening.
The sound is for you.
Bring your hands up.
Use your thumbs to gently close your ears.
Don't press too hard.
Just enough to seal out the outside world.
Rest your fingers gently over your eyes and face.
Now take a full breath in through the nose.
Inhale.
And as you exhale,
Hum.
Let the sound be steady,
Low and effortless.
Feel the vibration in your lips,
Your cheeks,
The top of your skull.
Again,
Breathe in and hum as you breathe out.
Stay with the vibration.
Follow it.
One more time.
A full breath in and hum it all the way out.
Now lower your hands.
Let them rest.
Sit quietly just for a moment.
Notice your breath.
Notice the parts of your body where you felt the vibrations.
Notice the silence that followed the sound.
That silence that's always been there.
The hum just helps you find it.
If this helped,
Do let me know.
Om Shanti.
