Welcome to this grounding meditation.

This is a great meditation to turn to if you're feeling particularly anxious or restless,

Or if you have a really busy mind.

And as we move into this meditation,

I invite you to close your eyes if that feels comfortable.

We may choose to keep your eyes open and soften your gaze in front of you.

Taking a meditation position that feels comfortable with your spine straight in an alert yet relaxed way.

Now taking a few moments to relax your body,

Take some deep breaths.

Extending the inhale.

Exhaling and elongating the exhale.

You might do this for the next two to three breaths as a way of arriving here,

Right here in this body.

Understanding what it's like to call your attention inside.

And as we settle in here together,

Just letting your breath resume its natural rhythm.

And as we sit here,

You might find it helpful to set an intention for the next few minutes.

That might be to offer yourself a gentle,

Open-hearted attention no matter what arises during your meditation.

Maybe something else that calls to you.

And now noticing your body as you sit here,

Sensing the strength of your physical being as it remains right here.

And bringing to mind a favorite strong,

Tall tree.

This might be a big,

Beautiful tree you have in your yard right now.

Maybe down the block at the park.

Or maybe even a favorite one you had as a kid.

And noticing now the connection of your feet to the floor below.

And imagining that your feet have roots that connect deep into the ground beneath you.

Just like that strong tree.

Imagining those roots going deep into the earth through all the layers,

Providing you with a sense of being anchored and rooted.

And you might sense into how much you like this tree,

Your affection for it.

And calling to mind how this tree endures all of the elements.

The wind,

The rain,

The hot,

Beating sun.

And still it remains standing tall.

Much like you.

Through the changing seasons.

Your leaves bloom to a brilliant green.

And then eventually dry up and blow away.

But revealing your ever-strong branches.

And here both you and the tree remain.

Rooted in the ground and centered.

And calling your attention to the energy of the tree's connection with Mother Earth below.

Feeling into that energy.

That sense of support.

And then bringing your attention to the sky above.

The sun,

The moon,

The stars,

The weather.

Realizing the nutrients provided by the sun and the rain.

Feeling into this sense of being supported and grounded.

Of belonging right here on this earth.

Of having all that you need.

Allowing your body just to take in that energy.

Namaste.

And bringing your attention back to your breath.

And as you're ready,

Opening your eyes and rejoining the world around you.
