Welcome to BALA Yoga.
My name is Karla and today I'm going to guide you through an opening class.
It means that we're going to open up a little bit of the upper body,
A little bit off the front of your body,
And most importantly,
We're also going to play with balancing.
It's always important to have balance on the mat,
Off the mat,
And that's what I really emphasize,
Not only in this class,
But in general.
If you want to hop along,
Come with me and let's practice.
Today's practice,
We're gonna start it all the way seated.
So make yourself comfortable on a seated position.
Rest your hands into your legs,
Palms can face down.
Our palms can face up.
Allow your eyes to close if it's comfortable for you.
Just roll up your shoulders for a moment.
You're practicing this early in the morning.
Checking how you're feeling with your back with your neck.
Perhaps you move the head side to side.
And you slowly start to bring stillness to your practice.
Lengthen the spine by reaching the crown of your head towards the sky.
Checking in with your breath.
Checking in with the sounds around you.
Deep inhale through your nose.
And a deep exhale through your mouth.
Big inhale.
And a bigger exhale.
Find a round,
Full breath in.
In a full breath out.
And start to create a rhythmic breath.
Slow and steady.
Just notice how the mind behaves.
How the body behaves.
Today's practice,
The intention is.
Open to receive.
For whatever reason in your life,
Personal,
Professional.
And you can create a mantra with that,
I am open to receive.
I am open to receive.
Click your chin towards your chest,
Bring your hands towards your heart,
And have a great practice.
Bring your hands by your sides,
Take a deep inhale,
Circle your hands high.
Exhale,
Lower the right hand down,
Reach your left arm over.
Try to bend the bottom elbow so you flare up the left ribs towards the side.
Feel the expansion.
Push the ground firmly and you can also rest your top hand all the way behind your head.
Take an inhale,
Send your arms to the sky.
Exhaling towards the left side with your right arm over.
Make any variation with the top hand that you need.
Bend your bottom elbow.
Try to keep the sits bones down on the ground.

If you do need to feel more on the hamstrings,

There's nothing wrong with that,
But just try to keep that strength into the front leg.

Take an inhale,
Reach your hands up.
Exhale,
Bump your hips back,

Lower the hands down to match.

We're going to finish this class with a breath technique and I'll guide you through that.
This breath work is called Nadi Shodhana and it consists on alternate nostrils.
We're basically going to alternate the breathing into both nostrils,
Okay?
Take your right thumb and you're going to plug the right nostril and the right ring finger is going to plug the left one.
So you're basically going to alternate like that.
The index finger and the middle finger can be placed in between your eyebrows as well.
Take a deep inhale through both nostrils.
Plug the right one and exhale through your left.
Inhale on the left.
Plug it and exhale on the right.
Inhale on the right.
Plug it and exhale on the left.
Inhale on the left.
Plug it in and exhale on the right.
Inhale on the right.
Plug it in and exhale on the left.
Final round,
Big inhale.
Plug the left and exhale on the right.
Inhale on the right.
Plug it and exhale on the left.
Relax your hands,
Big breath in.
And a bigger breath out.
I hope you enjoy your practice.
Have a great one.
Namaste.
