Hi,
Welcome to the April Sings a Lot podcast,
Where I share a story,
A song,
And invite you to sing along.
This is my story.
This is my song.
I've shared in previous podcasts that we have a son,
And the story today is about something that happened in the first week home with him.
So I ended up having a c-section,
And so I had a series of doctor's appointments,
And you can't drive for a little while after a c-section.
So I was depending on my mom and my mother-in-law and my husband and my friends to take me places.
And this particular day for this appointment,
I had my mom lined up.
She was going to bring me.
And then she woke up and had,
I think it was a gallbladder attack,
But it was something where it was just clear that she was not going to be able to get out of bed,
Much less drive me to a doctor's appointment.
So I was kind of left to figure it out,
You know,
Last minute.
And hormones being crazy right after having a baby,
I just started sobbing like just it was the end of the world in my mind at the time.
It seemed like the end of the world.
And I thought to myself,
Who can I call?
Like,
I cannot even form a coherent sentence right now,
And I need to be asking somebody to bring me to a doctor's appointment.
This person popped in my head.
I'll call her Stacy.
I believe it was a God thing.
So her face popped in my head,
And I called her,
And I explained the situation,
And I said,
You know,
I've got this doctor's appointment.
I would just really love a ride if you're available.
And she was,
She said,
I just need to get back by a certain time because I have a dental appointment.
And I said,
Great,
Sure,
Whatever you need,
We'll make it happen.
So she comes over and then we drove my car because we,
Of course,
Were bringing the baby with us too,
And that comes with a whole another set of accessories that you have to bring.
So she's driving my car.
We get on the road and she says,
Oh,
My gosh,
I had never even asked.
Where is your doctor's office?
I don't even know where we're going.
And so I explain where we're going and the address,
And she says,
You're kidding.
That is literally next door to my dental appointment.
Totally true.
It was in the same parking lot as her dental appointment.
I'm getting chills right now just talking about it.
It was such a miracle,
Like total miracle.
And she happens to be someone who is nervous about going to the dentist.
So it was a win win because she got to sit and hold a baby for like an hour while I was in my appointment.
And then we just walked across the parking lot to her dental appointment and I sat in the waiting area of her dentist's office while she got things done there.
And it was like,
I mean,
Totally just worked out in an amazing way.
And not at all what we had planned.
I love,
Love sharing about things like that because it's just such a validation that God is in everything.
Everything is important to God.
The song that I'd like for us to sing is Be Thou My Vision.
And I am choosing this song because in this situation,
In this story,
That person's face just sort of popped into my head as somebody else.
And I wanted as somebody to call.
And I want to encourage you that if you get those urges or nudges to call somebody or reach out,
Follow them.
Because I truly believe those are God putting you in somebody's path to help them or to ask for help from them.
We're all in this together.
And if we lean on God to show us the vision,
I truly do believe it will work out.
Day or by night,
Waking or sleeping,
Thy presence my light.
Be thou my wisdom and thou my true word,
I ever with thee and thou with me,
Lord.
Thou and thou only first in my heart,
Great God of heaven,
My treasure thou art.
Great God of heaven,
My victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys,
O bright heaven's sun.
Heart of my own heart,
Whatever befall,
Still be my vision,
O ruler of all.
