In a kingdom where appearances reign supreme, an emperor's love for new clothes leads him to be deceived by two cunning weavers. These weavers promise to create the most exquisite garments from a special fabric that is invisible to anyone who is unfit for their position or just plain stupid. Eager to flaunt his wealth and discernment, the emperor commissions the weavers to make him a new outfit from this remarkable cloth. As the weavers pretend to work on the fabric and the emperor and his ministers pretend to admire it, the kingdom is swept up in a grand illusion. Only a child, innocent and unspoiled by the pretenses of society, dares to speak the truth. What follows is a whimsical and enlightening tale about the folly of pride and the value of honesty.
