Today I'd like to share with you a special breathing exercise that I use pretty much every day to start my morning.
So it's called bellows breaths.
If you're pregnant or if you have uncontrolled blood pressure,
You might want to skip it.
But otherwise,
It's a great way to just uplift your energy,
Clear your mind,
And strengthen those lungs.
So you begin by taking your arms overhead,
And then as you exhale,
With a loose fist,
You draw the hands down.
So it's an inhale on the way up,
Exhale on the way down.
This can be done seated,
It can be done standing,
It can be done as the beginning of a meditation practice,
It can be done all by itself when you're feeling a little sluggish,
Maybe in the morning or after lunch,
Just not before bed because it is little energizing.
So the inhalation and the exhalation should be about the same length.
And as you breathe through the nose,
It's a forceful breath.
So we'll do three rounds of 10 together.
And as you get comfortable with this breathing exercise,
You might increase it to 20.
Per round to three or four rounds.
So let's start together.
Eyes closed.
We can really tune into sensation.
Breathe normally for the first breath.
And now begin,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale.
After 10 rounds,
Just pause.
10 repetitions,
Just feel.
And then we begin again.
Reach those arms overhead and inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale.
And then just stop for a couple breaths just to feel.
To notice the effects of this really enlivening breathing exercise.
One more round together.
Arms go up.
And inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale.
And relax,
Return to normal breath.
So I hope you'll give this breathing exercise a chance just as a way to really boost your energy,
Clear your mind,
And strengthen that respiratory system.
I'll see you again soon.
