The soothing sound of the rain is a natural focal point for meditation. I love crawling under the warm covers and listening to the raindrops dancing on the rooftops. It makes me feel so peaceful, relaxed, and clear. Enjoy the calm, cleansing effects of this rainy-day meditation, and let stress roll right off you. Photo Credit: Pexels - Pixabay

One of my all-time favorite sounds is the sound of the rain.

It's also one of the best focal points for meditating.

Meditating doesn't have to be complicated.

Just bring your awareness right now to the soothing sound of the rhythmic rain.

The sound of the raindrops hitting the rooftops.

The sound of the rain hitting the pavement.

The sound of the rain gently soaking the earth.

I live in Phoenix in the Sonoran Desert,

So rain has a very extra special meaning to me.

Nurturing the parched earth.

Quenching the thirst of all the plants and trees around us.

And notice how the rain provides this calming background for all the hustle and bustle of life.

People continuing with their daily routine as the rain continues to fall.

Rhythmically,

Calmly,

Soaking the earth,

Filling the ponds,

Lakes,

And reservoirs with this life-giving water.

As the raindrops continue to fall,

Noticing all the sounds around us.

Relax your entire body.

Bring your awareness now to the soothing sound of the raindrops.

Keeping your full awareness on this rhythmic sound.

I'll leave you in stillness for just a few moments to fully focus on this calm soothing sound of the rain.

Let the sound of the rain reverberate through every cell in your body.

Start to deepen your breath and bring your awareness now to the seat you're sitting on or whatever surface you're lying down on.

Start to become aware of any sensations in your body.

Any sounds within the room.

The sound of your breath as it enters the lungs and slowly releases.

Perhaps even hearing the sound of your heartbeat.

Rhythmically beating without any effort in your own time when you're ready.

Begin to open the eyes and come back into the present moment.

Namaste.
