Welcome to this class that's going to teach you more about the SAGE archetype.

The SAGE.

Investigator,

Teacher,

Expert.

Any fool can know the point is to understand.

Albert Einstein.

The SAGE archetype is curious about many topics and perceives life as a learning process.

You're considered knowledgeable by others and the pursuit of that knowledge and the resulting understanding is its own reward for you.

You tend to be calm and composed and you're motivated to understand subjects and situations which then enables you to educate others.

The part of you that's the SAGE assumes that with tenacity and perseverance most things can be understood.

SAGEs are like walking encyclopedia.

They're also insightful and wise.

They're incredibly curious,

Contemplative and aim to be as unbiased and objective as possible.

The SAGEs are thirsty for knowledge and truth and their big picture thinking helps them to be unaffected by day-to-day petty issues and challenges.

They overcome and bounce back from problems or challenges by reframing them as learning experiences.

The SAGE in you tends to notice the faults in logic and understands the ease with which our minds fall into the traps of habits or mass delusion.

SAGEs tend to respond slowly and thoughtfully without a sense of urgency because they understand the dangers of hasty reactions.

They evaluate the facts and are quick to understand the context even while accepting their inability to know absolute truth.

When you live the SAGE story you're on a constant mission to figure things out.

A SAGE is triggered by an unexplained fact or event and when faced with a challenge they're determined to resolve and uncover the truth which they can then share with others.

Activities and tasks fulfilling to a SAGE involve learning about ideas and the world.

SAGEs are disciplined in the art of thinking and exploring complex concepts which often leads them to develop new theories.

They love championing education and collective wisdom.

The part of you that's a SAGE finds happiness through mentally challenging and engaging activities.

The SAGE loves learning for the sake of learning.

They're rewarded when they find the answer but they also gain pleasure by sharing their findings.

As a leader,

SAGEs can be excellent at unemotional analysis,

Planning,

Evaluation and thoroughly thought out decisions.

They can easily detach when others are panicking because they're looking at the long game.

SAGEs have an air of calmness and projects move forward at a measured steady pace.

Others often appreciate the intelligence and expertise of the SAGE and seek them out as advisors.

People look to SAGEs as expert teachers or mentors and SAGEs genuinely want to share their knowledge.

They may want to guard against the tendency to be prescriptive and opinionated while looking down their noses at those engaged in and caught up in ordinary life.

SAGEs would be quite happy downloading their knowledge into a cybernetic form so they can get on with their analysis.

They feel beholden only to the truth as they see it which often makes them flippant towards their accountability to others.

SAGEs would be wise to ensure that their ability to see the flaws in others approaches is communicated as negative or cynical.

Sometimes SAGEs might get caught defending a truth that has since been disproven.

Underneath the story of the SAGE is a fear of chaos and uncertainty.

Their need to understand may be motivated by a need for predictability and order.

Sometimes the SAGE's overly intellectual vocabulary may be compensating for a deep sense of inadequacy.

SAGEs can benefit from avoiding discrimination and staying open to new information,

Paying attention to what works in the real world rather than what simply delights the mind by its complexity,

Communicating simply to avoid showing off expertise,

Cultivating intuition and bodily wisdom,

And balancing the virtues of the SAGE with those of the catalyst.

So let's take a look at the SAGE and catalyst balance.

The SAGE's need and desire for logic and research can make them blind to any alternatives that were not on the original linear study plan.

The catalyst's ability to make connections beyond the material world can provide helpful balance that sparks the imagination of the SAGE,

Inviting them to explore alternative theories.

My hope is that after watching this class,

You've got more clarity about the SAGE archetype.

Your assignment for this class is to share three ways in which you're going to start intentionally expressing your dominant archetype.

That could mean changing the way you dress or the jewelry you wear.

Or perhaps you're going to take up a new hobby that you've always wanted to do but you felt others wouldn't approve.

If it aligns with your archetype,

Start that hobby.

Or perhaps you're ready to make the commitment or to change your lifestyle to bring it more into alignment with who you inherently are.

I'd love to see a photo in the assignment section of whatever you choose as a representation of your expression of your archetype.

I'm excited to see how this awareness transforms your life.
