Hello.
So today we're going to work through a short mindfulness practice that's going to allow us to imagine a realistic future version of ourselves.
And this can be really helpful in clarifying values,
Kind of our identity,
And those kind of next grounded actions and steps that we can take today that are going to help us get to where it is that we want to be.
So it's not about predicting the future.
It's not about controlling the future.
Our values,
Our actions and that person that we're looking to become.
So to start just take a few moments to settle and land in our practice.
Finding a nice comfortable position where you can sit.
Crown of the head reaches up towards the sky.
And maybe we soften the effort just a little.
Notice if there's anywhere that you are holding or gripping or tensing.
And can we find a nice steady breath?
That allows us just to soften the effort.
Allows us to let go.
Maybe taking a nice inhale in through the nose.
Exhale,
Sighing out through the mouth.
And then finding a nice steady breath.
Letting go of the roles that we play.
Letting go of the to-do list.
And letting go of any expectations for the next 10 minutes.
Just allowing time to unfold and really seeing what comes up.
So if we haven't already,
Maybe closing the eyes.
And when you're ready,
Imagine you have just a little bit more space in front of you.
Space to pause,
Space to listen.
Space to imagine what might be possible when you give yourself permission to move towards the life you want to create.
You don't need to know exactly what that life looks like right now.
And you don't need a five-year plan.
But we are going to take a gentle look ahead.
So imagine yourself standing at the beginning of a path.
You don't need to see the whole path,
You can just see the next few steps.
And as you begin to walk forwards,
Imagine arriving at a point one month from now.
Notice where you are.
Maybe you're at home or you're somewhere familiar.
And notice how you move through your day.
And what has shifted.
What are you making a little bit more time for?
And what are you saying yes to?
What are you saying no to?
And underneath these actions,
Notice the values which are guiding you.
Perhaps it's freedom?
Creativity.
Connection.
Coverage.
Rest.
Adventure.
Health.
Whatever feels true for you,
Just notice what comes.
Then perhaps continue walking down your path.
Walking further and further down.
And now six months have passed.
Take a moment to meet yourself here.
Notice how you feel in your body.
Notice the energy you bring into the room.
Notice what your ordinary day looks like.
What has become normal for you now?
What choices are becoming easier?
What have you stopped forcing?
What have you started prioritizing?
And finally,
Allow yourself to travel a little further along the path.
Travelling further and further down.
Until you reach a point 12 months from now.
One year.
And it's not about imagining a perfect future life with no challenges.
But instead imagine a life that just feels more like you.
See yourself there.
And notice what you've learnt Notice what you're proud of.
And perhaps imagine sitting beside this version of you for a moment.
You don't need to ask them how everything worked out,
But instead ask,
What did this version of you have to start doing or stop doing to arrive here?
What did you choose to value?
What did you choose to make space for?
And what small thing or habit did you do again and again and again and again to end up here?
So just listen for whatever comes up.
There could be a word,
An image.
A feeling.
A habit,
A place.
A relationship or simply a way of being.
And you don't need to hold onto everything.
But just notice what you want to bring back with you.
So when you're ready,
Beginning to make your way back along that path.
Bringing those images,
Values,
Feelings,
Bringing them all back with you.
Back down the path.
Back to this moment.
Back into your body.
Back into the room.
Knowing that your future self isn't someone you have to become overnight.
But it's built through the choices that you make today.
So as you're ready you might begin to open your eyes and step forward into your day.
Reminding ourselves that it's not about creating that perfect life.
But making those choices,
Taking those steps to move towards who you want to be.
Recognising what you want to value.
And taking those small steps.
Towards a life that you choose.
Thank you for practicing with me today,
And I'll see you very soon.
