Welcome to the sonic list of changes.
In this practice.
You will choose five patterns you want to change and create a short sound for the healing quality that each one needs or requires.
Using handwriting,
Visualisation and your voice.
You will explore releasing what holds these patterns in place.
And embodying the changes you wish to make.
Your drawing and sounds will give you a personal practice you can return to each and every day or whenever you like.
Find a quiet and safe space now where you can sit comfortably and use your voice.
You will need a pen or pencil and a physical sheet of paper.
So feel free to pause this while you acquire those beautiful items.
The act of writing,
Making the shapes of the letters and words,
Is all part and parcel of this practice.
Set your screen aside once the recording is playing.
If you need to gather your materials,
Like I said,
Pause now and return when you're ready.
Settle into your seat now.
And feel the ground beneath you Let your shoulders soften and your breathing become nice and easy.
When you're ready.
Draw a circle in the middle of your paper,
Leaving space around it.
Place a dot at its center.
The circle represents your wholeness,
Your whole being.
The dot is you.
Rest your attention now for a few moments on that point.
Imagine.
.
.
Gently zooming out and looking down from above.
Let the flat circle become three-dimensional.
And you find yourself looking down upon a beautiful tree.
The tree is you.
Feel its trunk as your body,
With roots reaching into the earth.
In this practice as you choose your five patterns that you wish to transform,
Heal and change,
The lines that you're going to draw will become the five branches of your tree.
There's no need to draw them yet.
Above the tree is an open sky.
Let the sky represent the spaciousness of your mind while the tree keeps you rooted in the ground.
Rooted in the earth.
You can feel the earth beneath you and the openness above you all at once simultaneously together.
All of this.
As part of your experience.
Now let's take some time together to reflect on the patterns that you would like to change.
They might be patterns of behaviour.
Thoughts,
Emotions or perceptions.
Or any combination.
Of any of those things.
We will work with five.
One at a time.
If you can only think of one,
If only one comes to mind.
We can begin with that.
That's absolutely fine.
So take some time,
Allow the first pattern now to become clear.
Relax and open yourself just like the sky.
To receiving that pattern.
No judgements.
Once you have it,
Once you've thought of what that pattern is,
I'd like you to draw a branch outwards from your circle,
A line down.
Out from your circle.
Anywhere that you choose.
And beside it.
Write the pattern as briefly as you can as possible,
One word or just maybe two.
Once you've done that.
Put the pen down.
Bring the pattern to your mind.
Recognize how it appears in your life.
And that you wish to change it.
Let yourself see or feel it clearly for a few brief moments.
Now relax back into yourself.
Feel the rooted centre of your tree opening towards the sky.
Visualise with me a clear,
Cloudless expanse,
Open in all directions.
Let your mind become spacious like the sky.
Gradually.
Feeling yourself becoming its openness.
Rest there.
Breathing easy.
Allowing the pattern to have space around it.
Within the spaciousness.
Bring to mind the quality.
That would transform and change this pattern.
It's antidote,
If you like.
It's medicine.
The quality,
The change you wish to embody.
Imagine how it would feel to be and have this quality.
Relax yourself into that feeling.
As you rest in the open sky of your mind,
Allow a sound now to emerge.
Keep it short,
One syllable or two at most.
Give it time.
Hold the feeling of the change gently.
Without holding it.
And listen inwardly for a sound that wants to emerge,
That expresses it.
You can softly explore it with your voice until the shape feels clear,
Familiar and right.
And you will know when this is.
Let this sound,
Whatever it might be,
Represent the change itself.
This is your word of power for the quality you are inviting.
As you voice the sound.
When you're ready.
Use it and allow your imagination to help you feel and embody that quality.
At the same time.
Know that the sound allows and helps you to release the blocks,
Resistances and attachments that hold you back from receiving it.
The sound carries both the medicine and the movement of becoming it.
We will repeat this sound and the whole visualization three times.
Use a gentle,
Comfortable voice on your out-breath,
Then breathe naturally.
Let the imagery continue at its own pace.
There is no need to make one breath last for the whole journey.
For the first round.
Rest in the clear sky of your mind and begin your sound.
Imagine it transforming the pattern you have named.
Feel the old pattern loosening as the healing quality becomes more present.
Allow whatever resists this change to soften and release using your sound.
Imagine the sound descending from that open sky into your tree.
Through its branch and into the trunk of your body.
Let it fill the mind,
Your head,
Your throat,
Chest,
Your spirit,
Your belly,
Arms and legs,
Feet.
Imagine it reaching every cell,
Every atom,
Muscle and sinew.
Then traveling through your roots into the earth.
Return to the centre of your circle.
Feel the sound filling your whole being with the quality that you have chosen.
It may also appear as a gentle pulse in light.
Imagine your body and mind becoming this medicine,
Radiating and vibrating it from within.
Rest in the feeling of yourself whole and complete.
When you are ready,
Sound again.
Repeat the same journey.
Open the sky.
See the pattern transforming,
The resistance releasing,
And the sound descending through your whole being into the earth.
Return to your center.
And know and feel yourself embodying,
Manifesting the change.
Repeats it a third time.
Let the sound become even more familiar to you as you voice it,
Allow its medicine to to fill you and rest at your centre when the sound has ended.
Pick up your pen now and write the sound beside or underneath the pattern on your branch.
Write it in a way that will help you remember how it sounds.
This is your first word of power and medicine.
Return to the dot at the centre of your circle.
Allow the second pattern now to come to mind.
Draw a new branch and write the passing just like we did before in one word or as few words as possible.
Set down your pen.
Briefly visualise what you wish to change.
Relax into the open sky again.
Feel your mind becoming spacious.
While your tree remains rooted.
Bring to mind the medicine for this pattern.
And allow now a new sound of one or two syllables to emerge.
Let it represent the change you wish to become in an act.
Sound it three times.
Repeating the whole journey.
Imagine.
Pattern transforming and the resistance to change being released using the sound.
Draw that sound down from the sky.
Through your branches and body.
Into your roots and the earth.
Return to your centre,
Filled with the quality of the sound.
When you've finished,
Just like we did before,
Write your second word of power beside its pattern.
Now return to your centre and choose the third pattern.
Draw its branch.
Write its name briefly.
Recognize the pattern.
Relax into the spaciousness,
The cloudless sky of your mind.
Feel the quality that would transform it and allow it.
Its sound to arise from within you.
Relaxed and whole.
Repeat the sound three times.
So yeah,
With each repetition,
You're visualizing the pattern changing and what holds it in place softening,
Dissolving.
Let the sound descend through your whole being into the ground.
Rest at the center.
Embodying the medicine.
Write the sound beside your third branch.
Return to the center of your circle.
Let the fourth pattern become clear.
And draw its branch and write it down.
Set the pen aside.
Bring the pattern to mind and open again into the sky.
Relax in that beautiful spaciousness.
Imagining the changes that you wish to embody.
And allowing the sound to emerge effortlessly from within you.
Sound it three times.
Following the complete visualization again.
Release into the sound,
For example.
HALU Salum Hallelujah.
Mmm.
So you're releasing using the sound.
You're receiving the quality embodied and being manifested by the sound.
The sound represents the change and transformation.
You're returning to your center.
You're feeling that medicine radiating through every aspect,
Every part of you.
You are the sound.
You are the medicine.
Write the fourth word of power beside its pattern.
Come back to your centre.
And now choose the fifth and final pattern.
Draw the final branch.
Name it briefly.
Visualize what you wish to change.
Relax into your clear open sky-like mind.
Feel the quality that would bring transformation and allow a sound of one or two syllables to arise from this emptiness,
This fullness,
This spaciousness.
Repeat it three times.
Each time,
Remember,
Imagine the pattern transforming,
The blocks and attachments,
Resistances releasing and dissolving,
And the sound filling your entire being as it descends from the sky,
Through your tree,
Through your being,
Into the earth.
Return to the center of your circle with your eyes on the page within your mind,
Resting in the feeling that you have become,
That you have manifested this quality in the here and now.
Right to your fifth and final sound beside its relevant branch.
Well done for a start.
Look at the page.
You have your circle with you at the center and five branches holding five patterns and their five words of power.
See your tree from above.
Again,
Each branch belonging to the same living whole.
So this now can become or is your sonic sigil of inner and outer alchemy.
Personal symbol for the changes that you are actively cultivating within yourself and in your life.
If you wish,
You can take it.
Now or some other time.
A second sheet of paper and draw a pentagon,
A shape with five sides.
Place your dot or bindu at its exact center and write one of your five sounds beside each side.
You can make,
You know,
You can do this now or any time after the recording.
You can use this drawing as a mandala of transformation,
Arresting your gaze on the central point,
Then move to each sound in turn,
Clockwise,
Anti-clockwise,
However you wish.
Recalling its medicine.
Give it voice and follow the same visualisation of release and becoming.
Return to the centre between the sounds,
Allowing their qualities to gather within you.
Survive.
Is a nice number.
And it's a good starting point.
You can work with fewer patterns if you wish.
You can work with fewer patterns or gradually expand your list,
Changing the shape to match the number of sounds.
Keep it manageable though.
I do suggest no more than 12.
For 12 sounds,
Use a dodecagon.
A flat shape with 12 sides.
If you're working with just one sound,
Write it repeatedly around the circumference of your circle.
So for the next 28 days,
Return to this practice,
If you wish,
For a few minutes every day.
Begin at your centre,
Feel your roots in the earth.
Relax into the open sky of your mind.
Work through your sounds,
Repeating each three times with the same visualization.
Let each sound remind you of the change it represents.
Help you to explore what needs releasing,
What holds you back,
And bring you into the feeling of embodying this quality in the present moment.
Using the sound,
Through the sound.
The sound is the key,
The map,
And the compass.
If you wish also,
You can keep a journal of what you feel and notice,
Any changes,
Resistances,
Insights or synchronicities that you might experience.
Let the practice unfold over these days,
Giving yourself time to become familiar with your sounds and what they mean to you.
For now.
Return to the centre of your circle.
Feel your body and the ground beneath you.
Let the sounds settle into silence and quietness.
Take an easy breath,
Look around the room.
And return.
To this practice.
Whenever you wish,
Whenever you want.
Thank you for listening.
