When A Child Leaves- The Female Stoic Podcast
When children leave home, we can experience a mix of emotions, including grief, a loss of purpose, and sometimes, a renewed sense of freedom. It can be a painful time. So, how do we deal with this as Stoics?
Transcript
Today on the Female Stoic Podcast,
I wanted to talk about Stoic sacrifice.
It's been a difficult time for me lately because my daughter has left home.
She has gone to live somewhere else and she's only 18.
It's been quite hard to accept.
I understand that she needs to find her own way,
She needs to experiment and experience things.
But of course there's that.
Pain.
That comes with those that are left behind.
And I struggle.
I want to say.
.
.
Why are you going?
Why don't you stay with me?
Am I naughty now?
But I understand that it is my job as a mother to be the parent,
Not the child.
I understand that.
I must be.
Aware of my emotions and be able to compartmentalize them so that I am experiencing them by myself.
And they are not allowed to influence the decision-making of others.
Thank you for listening.
I'll see you next time.
