Hello there,
Beautiful.
Thank you for joining me today as we talk about what it means to trust yourself,
Why it may have felt dangerous for you to do so in the past,
And how you can lean back into that self-trust.
As a woman,
And especially as a Black woman,
I've been taught by my society that trusting myself will harm me,
So I need to trust the systems in place rather than what it is I know to be true.
And that's a really weird juxtaposition because inherently,
I really do trust myself.
I do believe in my intuition.
I do know from experience that whenever I've acted on that self-trust,
It ends up being something that is way more in alignment with who I actually am.
At this point in my life,
I am unlearning what has been given to me,
Which is ultimately a subconscious fear that if we don't play by the rules,
We don't get to be appreciated.
I hope today you and I can unlearn that together.
It's really difficult trying to find the balance between deeply knowing yourself and also deeply wanting to be appreciated by others.
What I know to be true,
And what I want you to think about for yourself,
Is that this is your one beautiful life,
And if you don't live it in accordance to your values,
You might wake up one day wondering,
Who am I?
And I don't want that for you.
I don't want that for us.
The irony,
I think of this,
Is that you've probably always known who you are.
You've just been told not to trust that person.
So today,
I'm giving you permission to trust yourself.
You know who you are.
You know what you deserve.
I want you to make space for yourself.
I want you to believe that your intuition can and will lead you to where it is you need to be.
I want you to believe that you can create boundaries that will allow you to do that.
And I want you to enforce those boundaries and protect your self-trust.
You deserve literally everything that is coming to you.
Not trusting yourself has probably kept you safe in a certain way,
I'm positive of that,
But that plan for your life has officially expired.
And now,
Today,
You get to put a new plan into action.
So let's do that.
We're gonna do a little breathing exercise and we're gonna do a visualization to help you start thinking about putting that plan into place.
So let's take a deep breath in for three,
Two,
One.
Now hold it for three,
Two,
One.
Now exhale for three,
Two,
One.
If it's accessible to you,
I want you to close your eyes and visualize what this self-trusting person looks like.
What are they wearing?
What's around them?
What expression is on their face?
What's the weather like?
I really want you to picture this person.
I want you to love on them.
I want you to be in awe of them because that person is you.
That is the self-trusting version of you.
So please let that vision sit with you,
Let it stick with you,
Let it become you.
If there is ever a moment where you're starting to doubt yourself,
I want you to tap back into that vision and think about that self-trusting,
Amazing,
Beautiful version of yourself and lean into that person.
I want you to really trust yourself the way that little you used to.
I trust you.
Thank you.
