This is a breath of compassion meditation.
From secret number four,
Be tender with yourself in meditation secrets for women.
First,
Take a couple of minutes to settle in,
To fill the position that you would like to be in.
It can be seated,
It can also be lying down,
Wherever you feel comfortable.
First,
Take a couple of minutes to settle in,
Letting your eyes close if they want to.
Invoke the space to be with no demands on yourself whatsoever.
Time just for you.
Time to fill.
Time to let go.
And just as you are,
Become aware of your breath,
Just as it is.
This movement of life that we call breathing.
Notice how breath flows without any will or effort on your part.
From the air around you into your body and then back out.
Just feeling that natural rhythm.
Let it establish itself.
No need to change it in any way.
The breath may be shallow or deep.
It may be extremely slow or rapid.
It may pause as you exhale.
Nothing to make happen whatsoever.
No need to change yourself or the breathing rhythm in any way.
Allowing yourself to be,
To simply be with this awareness.
Now bring your attention to the texture of breath,
How soft it is.
Feel the tenderness brushing through your nose and throat,
The gentle swelling inside you with its accepting touch.
How soft can it be?
Allowing yourself to simply feel that tender touch,
The soft accepting touch of the breath.
Intentionally surrender to the gentleness of breath.
Surrender to receiving the inhalation.
Surrender to the gentle flow of your exhalation.
Allow the gentle touch of this flow to dissolve any judgment and pain.
That soft,
Tender touch coming to meet any place where you have been hard on yourself.
Or coming to meet any place that is calling to you for more attention.
Give over to the tenderness of breath.
Know the abiding movement of breath as the spirit of acceptance within you.
Receive this blessing and breathe with compassion for yourself.
And when you are ready,
Take some time to stretch or yawn to begin a gentle transition to reorient yourself to the outer world.
