Welcome to this guided meditation.
This meditation is designed to help you manage your worries and anxiety.
Find a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down.
Finally close your eyes,
And take a deep breath in through your nose,
Filling your lungs completely,
And then exhale slowly through your mouth,
Letting go of any tension.
Repeat this pattern a few times,
Allowing your body to relax more with each breath.
Now I invite you to use your imagination.
Picture two monsters living inside you.
One is your worry monster,
It's not very big,
But it feels strong because it feeds on your worries and fears.
It might look a little scruffy or anxious,
Always nibbling and feeding off your negativity.
The other is your love monster.
It's warm and bright,
Full of joy and kindness.
Maybe it has a gentle glow or a soft,
Friendly appearance.
This monster feeds on love,
Compassion,
And happy thoughts.
Now imagine what happens when you give all your attention to the worry monster.
You might see it growing,
This anxious energy getting stronger with each worry you feed it.
Now think about how often you might do this in your daily life,
Letting small fears and doubts add to the worry monster's strength.
Notice how feeding this monster affects you.
Do you feel heavier and more tense?
It's okay to recognize these feelings,
We're just observing them for now.
Now shift your focus to the love monster.
Spend a few moments thinking about moments that fill you with joy,
Love,
Peace and contentment.
Maybe it's a hug from a loved one,
The first sip of your morning coffee,
The sound of birds or a peaceful walk in nature.
Imagine giving these positive feelings to your love monster,
Like feeding it delicious,
Nourishing food.
As the love monster absorbs your positive thoughts,
Watch it grow stronger and brighter.
Feel its warmth spreading throughout your body.
The more love and kindness you feed it,
The bigger and more radiant it becomes.
And notice what happens to the worry monster as the love monster grows.
The worry monster starts to lose some of its strength,
It might even transform,
Taking on a less intimidating form,
Or it might disappear altogether,
No longer needing your attention.
Feel the difference in your body and mind as the love monster grows and the worry monster shrinks.
Sense the lightness and peace that comes from focusing on love and kindness.
These childlike images of monsters can make it easier to understand and manage your feelings.
It's a playful and gentle way to deal with your worries and to nurture the positive aspects of your mind and heart.
Remember,
Both monsters naturally exist within you,
And you have the power to choose which monster to feed.
You could always shift your focus to the love monster whenever you need.
As we come to the end of this meditation,
Take a few deep breaths in.
Feel the calmness and warmth that the love monster has brought to your heart.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes,
Carrying the sense of peace and the power of choice with you throughout your day.
