Hey,
Thanks for taking the time for yourself today.
We're gonna work on creating a safe place together.
This will be a space of relaxation and comfort,
Offering safety to you.
We all need a place where we don't have to rush or be overwhelmed with productivity,
Other racing thoughts,
Fears,
Just a space to allow non-judgment and curiosity.
Just to be and observe with all of our senses.
Let's jump in.
What is a comfortable position for you?
Let's take some time getting there.
And when you're ready,
We're just gonna let in a nice deep inhale and a steady exhale.
Let's focus a bit on our body,
Doing a brief body scan starting in our face and allowing us to breathe deeper where you feel any tension.
Relax those muscles in your face.
I'm clenching your jaw.
Relax your shoulders and arms.
You may wish to open your hands to your sides or just lay them gently in your lap.
Relax your back.
Notice how your diaphragm moves as you inhale and exhale.
Relax your abdomen,
Glutes,
Moving down to your legs,
All the way to your feet.
One deep refreshing breath here and release.
Let us begin to visualize a place,
Either real or imagined,
To create a sense of safety.
This will be a place just for you,
No people or pets,
Just to limit distraction and unnecessary triggers.
When you think of seeing a place that feels safe or like comfort,
What do you see?
Maybe a vacation spot or something you've seen in pictures.
You may wish to create a completely new space,
Maybe starting with being indoors or outdoors.
What colors do you want to see around you?
Are there any landmarks around or objects?
Think about what serves you best,
What would appear soothing.
Turn around in your safe place.
Notice what's in front of you,
What might be above,
How does the sky appear?
And looking below,
What's underneath your feet?
Be curious about this place,
It is yours to experience.
Let's take a few steps around in this place.
Are you walking on grass,
Sand,
Maybe a sidewalk or pathway?
Immerse yourself into this space.
Reach out your arms.
What's the temperature here?
What's the speed of the wind?
Are there any items you can touch nearby?
Maybe a comfortable chair or maybe you're wearing your favorite outfit or robe,
Something comfortable.
Let's take in a nice deep breath here Imagine a scent that smells comforting to you and exhale.
Where's the scent coming from?
Your favorite candle?
The environment itself?
Turn on an imaginative dial in your mind for how much or how little you wish to smell this.
Make it more secure and tranquil for yourself,
Catering to your needs and wishes.
What would you like to taste here in this space?
Maybe your favorite drink or food?
Coffee?
Clean water?
Is there a change in the weather creating a new taste?
What does your body need?
Allow this to be present.
What sounds bring you a sense of joy or peace?
Maybe it's nature sounds,
A calming background noise,
Or something more specific to enhance your awareness.
Allow yourself to notice these sounds,
Taking in another deep breath and exhaling.
Let's recall what you have created here so far.
Allow all of your senses to be felt at once,
Taking a few steps around again,
Enhancing the visuals,
Noticing the temperature with touch,
Breathing in the new smell and taste,
Allowing the sounds you hear to be present.
We want to give this place a name,
Perhaps one that encompasses your sensory experience or maybe something that just fits for you.
Take your time in thinking of what to call it,
Maybe just safe place.
This will be your keyword to return back when you need to.
This is a place only you can access,
A place where you can close your eyes and travel to simply by stating its name internally or verbally.
Allow yourself to be there,
Even for a minute or two,
To assist with self-soothing and regulating any discomfort in the present.
When we are able to allow ourselves a space of relief,
Our nervous system can settle.
Our thoughts begin to slow down and our focus shifts to being instead of doing.
Return to this safe space anytime you need to.
Allow gratitude in yourself for offering this space to you.
Thank you for taking this time to be present and to utilize creativity with me.
