Hi,
I'm Kim Pask.
Welcome to WiseMind,
Where river meets ocean.
In this practice,
We'll use the meeting of river and ocean to explore the emotional mind.
Reasonable mind,
And the spacious place of wise mind.
Begin by finding a comfortable position and allow yourself to settle.
You might let your hands rest softly.
If it feels comfortable,
Close your eyes.
For the next minute,
We'll begin with a gentle three-part yogic breath.
Simply begin by inhaling slowly through your nose,
Allowing the breath to fill your belly,
Upper belly.
And chest.
And exhale softly,
Letting the chest,
Upper belly,
And lower belly release.
Again,
Breathing in,
Belly,
Ribs,
Chest.
And softening on the exhale.
Continuing at your own pace,
Belly,
Ribs,
Chest,
And exhaling soft and slowly.
There is nothing to force.
Simply breathe and arrive.
Now imagine a river moving through a landscape.
The river is emotional mind.
Alive.
Moving,
Responding,
And feeling.
Notice what emotions may be moving through you today.
No need to change them.
Now imagine the ocean,
Vast,
Steady,
And spacious.
This is the reasonable mind.
The part of you that can step back,
Observe,
Gather information,
And think clearly.
And where the river meets the ocean.
Imagine a place of meeting.
This is WiseMine.
Not the absence of emotion.
And not the absence of reason.
But the place where both can be held.
Bring your attention into your body.
Where do you notice emotional mind right now?
Perhaps warmth,
Tightness,
Heaviness,
Movement,
Or energy.
Simply notice.
Now,
Notice what reasonable mind feels like in your body.
Perhaps there is more space.
Stillness or distance.
Knowing that there's no right answer.
Finally,
I invite you to ask gently.
What might Wise Mind feel like in my body?
No need to search for a perfect answer.
But just give yourself a few breaths to listen.
On your next inhale.
Imagine river flowing toward the ocean.
On your exhale,
Feel the spaciousness of both.
You might silently ask,
What do I know right now underneath the noise?
Taking a moment to pause and listen.
Take one final slow breath in.
And exhale gently.
Remembering that you do not have to choose between feeling and thinking.
Wise mind can be both.
And whenever you're ready,
Return your awareness to the room.
Perhaps carrying one small piece of wise mind with you.
