Find your way to a comfortable seat and make sure that you feel supported,
Make sure that you're comfortable and whenever you feel like you're ready to do so,
Allow the eyes to gently flutter closed and take notice of your body in the space,
All those spots where the body makes contact with the floor,
The temperature of the air on your skin,
The sensation of clothing on your body and take notice of your breath exactly as it is in this moment.
Maybe it's higher up in the chest or maybe it's low down deep in the belly.
Just notice your breath.
And from top to bottom,
Scan the self for any signs of tension,
Any stories,
Any thoughts that might be calling for your attention just now and go ahead and acknowledge them but then allow yourself to bring your awareness inwards just a little bit deeper and if your awareness tries to wander throughout your practice as is so natural for it to do,
Just gently call it back again and again and again.
Let your awareness come to the back of your body and travel down,
Down,
Down the spine to the very base of the spine at the sacrum.
Allow your attention to rest there.
Now from the sacrum,
Envision deep strong roots like those of a tall,
Tall cottonwood tree growing from the base of your spine down into the floor,
Down into the earth beneath you and these roots act as an anchor,
A deep grounding force holding you here and supporting you.
Now allow your awareness to come back to the spine but this time traveling upwards,
Snaking your attention all the way up,
All the way up,
All the way up until it lands on that little cushion of space just above the crown of the head.
Notice what color that space is.
Don't overthink it.
Whatever came to mind first is exactly right and from this space as if you were planting seeds in a garden,
One at a time,
Little offshoots begin to grow upwards reaching for the light and each of these offshoots contain things that you wish to grow in the upcoming season in the months ahead.
Things full of good,
Things to help you grow and they might be simple thoughts.
They could be affirmations,
Intentions or mantras.
Maybe they're relationships that you hope to cultivate,
Job opportunities or places that you wish to travel.
Just keep planting these seeds and just like in nature,
What you choose to water and to nurture and to take care of,
That's what will continue to grow and flourish.
Your garden will begin to thrive.
Where your attention goes,
Energy flows.
Begin to deepen your breath and run a few deep nourishing breaths throughout the entire body and let these breaths reach into the deepest,
Darkest corners.
Allow them to sweep away any lingering stagnant energy,
Any cobwebs that might still be hanging in the corners and allow these breaths to give you a clean,
Fresh slate for the months ahead.
And with one last breath,
Take a great big stretch and whenever you feel ready to do so,
Gently open the eyes.
