Welcome to the Building Momentum Meditation.
This is a moving meditation.
So,
If you're sitting or laying down,
I invite you to get up.
Stand and take a nice gentle breath in.
And as you let that out,
Start some easy stretching or even some walking around your place.
Why?
Because as Isaac Newton's first law of motion tells us,
An object in motion tends to stay in motion,
While an object at rest tends to stay at rest.
So while we're getting into motion,
Gentle stretching or walking,
Or maybe a combination of the both of them.
Yes,
Our intention is to create more of what we truly want or need to do.
And one way of doing this to first start moving,
Because any movement puts more oxygen into our blood,
Which then boosts the energy to our muscles and wakes up our brains.
I recommend we call each other start buddies.
We're moving.
Don't concern yourself about doing what you want to do,
Not just yet.
We'll get there,
I promise.
What's useful now is any sort of gentle movement.
And if you're just listening,
Checking out this audio before giving it a whirl,
That is understandable.
You and we invite you to join us.
I anticipate most of us are now moving or walking,
Maybe inside,
Maybe outside.
And now we're going to take that momentum that we've already built and move into what we'd like to do right now.
This may be doing the dishes.
If so,
Walk to the kitchen.
Pick something up,
Put it away or rinse it,
Whatever the next action is.
Bring me along.
Keep listening while you do this.
Keep listening while you take action.
If you'd like to start writing,
Walk over to your computer or journal.
Maybe you need to find them.
That's fine.
No self-criticism.
We are start buddies,
And we are kind to each other and ourselves.
Maybe you need to plug in your laptop,
Find where you're at in a Word or Scrivener,
Google Doc,
Or whatever else you're creating in.
Or perhaps you need to flip to a new page,
And as you do all this,
You have a moment to remember.
Remember your story,
What made you feel called to write in the first place,
And then let that energy start bubbling up inside yourself and feel that good feeling.
If you're listening to this because you'd like to move and increase the amount of exercise do,
The good news is you're already moving.
You can take a moment to find a song that will energize you.
Pull out your work clothes,
Find your mat,
Start rolling out,
Pull the weights out from under your bed,
Or gather what you need to gather to go to the gym.
Or prepare to start right here,
Where you're at.
Many say starting where you're at is the best place to start.
Remember,
You do not need to feel completely ready before engaging.
No one is completely ready before they act.
We only need to be about 30% ready to start.
And remember,
We don't need to be alone.
We can do this together.
And that's what we're doing right now.
Most of us are already moving.
Remember,
An object in motion tends to stay in motion.
So use the momentum that we,
As creative buddies,
Have built.
Maybe you're on a roll,
Picking up a frying pan next.
This may take a little more effort,
But that's That's okay,
We've got momentum.
Remember something fun and meaningful about what you're writing.
You can read over the last paragraph or page that you wrote before.
Let yourself re-energize yourself and your story.
Make an edit,
Write a note,
Do a doodle,
Or write the next sentence.
Or maybe put on your shoes.
And you can also be getting out your instrument,
Filling a glass of water.
Petting a furry companion.
As you move,
Notice that something is already changing.
You are no longer thinking about getting started.
We have started.
It's been my experience that movement builds momentum and also increases motivation.
One small movement leads to another.
One action leads to another.
An object in motion tends to stay in motion,
And we are moving.
As we cross the bridge together from not doing to doing,
I anticipate you'll find it easier to move into action that is aligned with your heart's and soul's calling.
If you're already doing what you're choosing to do,
How much fun is this?
And if you take a moment to realize it didn't really take us that long to really get started.
For the rest of us,
We're now ready for I wonder.
If you're completing a simple to-do list item,
You can say to yourself,
Feel as I move this forward.
If you're straightening,
Perhaps you might think,
I wonder how I'll feel when the space is cleaned up.
When I was writing my first novel,
I'd often ask myself,
I wonder what Chevy and Sweetie could do to really show the readers how much they love each other.
If you're writing,
Perhaps you could wonder,
What could happen to make your story and writing even more exciting,
Scary,
Fun,
Or meaningful?
If you're preparing to exercise,
You might be asking,
I wonder what movement would make my body feel good now?
I Wonder opens us up to inspiration and insight.
We move to build momentum.
As we shift into action and do what we truly want to do,
We can use I Wonder to follow,
Allow,
And attune to our bliss.
It is 100% fine if you have used our time together so far to set yourself up to begin.
Many of us have already started doing what we want to do.
Fantastic either way.
If you're already doing it,
Whatever it is,
Great.
Enjoy as you continue.
Others of us may now be ready to do our first yoga stretch or push-up or play the first note of a musical instrument.
Do that now.
You have found.
Take another step or do your first stretch.
Lift the first weight.
Say something in a foreign language.
Whatever you're doing,
Do it again.
Let my encouragement fade into the background.
Perhaps my voice is already becoming a little annoying.
Won't it be great when this guy stops talking so I can enjoy what I'm creating?
You're going to get your wish.
I'm going to be quiet soon.
And if you get interrupted by someone or you have to stop to do something else,
That is OK.
You can always use this audio again,
And we'll get back into it together.
Why?
Because we are start buddies,
Creative buddies,
Heart and soul friend buddies.
I acknowledge you for building momentum.
An object in motion tends to stay in motion.
Enjoy.
