Tonight,
I want to invite you to put something down.
Not tomorrow,
Not the plans you haven't made yet or the problems you haven't solved yet.
Just right now,
In this moment.
I want to invite you to put fear down.
Fear has a way of finding us at bedtime.
The house gets quiet and suddenly everything you've been out running during the day catches up.
The worry,
The what-ifs.
The tight feeling in your chest that you can't quite name.
You don't have to figure any of it out tonight.
You are safe and you are not alone.
Before we go any further.
Let's just breathe together.
So take a slow breath in through your nose.
And let it out gently through your mouth.
Again,
In.
.
.
And out.
One more time.
And as you exhale this time.
Imagine releasing something with that breath.
A worry,
A tension.
A fear you've been holding tightly today.
Good,
You're already doing it.
There is a kind of rest that doesn't come from having everything figured out.
It comes from trusting the one who holds everything you can't control.
Whatever fear came with you into this room tonight,
It doesn't have to stay.
Maybe it's the fear about someone you love.
Maybe it's uncertainty about the future.
Maybe it's an old fear that keeps finding you,
No matter how many times you think you've let it go.
Here's what I want you to know.
You were never meant to carry this alone.
So let's surrender it together.
Place your hand on your chest if that feels right.
Feel your heart beat steady and faithful.
Beating without you having to think about it.
There is a piece that is already available to you.
Not because your circumstances have changed,
But because you are held by something,
By someone greater than your fear.
Let that sink in.
You are held.
Let's close this time together with a simple prayer.
You can say it silently in your heart or just let the words wash over you.
I release what I cannot control.
I let go of the fear I've been holding.
I trust that I am safe and cared for.
I surrender this night and everything in it.
Peace is mine.
Rest is mine.
I receive it now.
Let your body soften now.
Let your jaw relax.
Let your shoulders drop.
You've done enough today.
You've carried enough today.
Tonight you can rest.
Sleep well.
You are held.
Good night.
