Let your body soften.
Allow your eyes to gently close and begin to slow your breathing.
Inhale deeply and exhale slowly,
Letting go of any thoughts from the day,
The worries,
The rushing,
The noise.
You are safe,
You are seen,
And you are being held tonight by the one who never slumbers.
As your body continues to relax,
Begin to repeat these gentle words in your heart.
Be still and know that I am God.
Let those words become a rhythm with your breath.
Be still and know that He is here with you,
Watching over you,
Surrounding you with peace.
If anything tries to pull your mind away,
Return to this truth.
God is your refuge.
He gives His beloved rest.
You don't need to figure everything out tonight.
You simply need to rest in Him.
Feel the weight of the day lift off your shoulders.
Feel the quiet calm of the Holy Spirit wash over you like a blanket of peace.
You are not alone.
You are deeply,
Deeply loved.
Breathe in God's peace.
Breathe out the tension.
In this stillness,
May your sleep be deep and your dreams be sweet.
You are covered in grace.
I will lie down and sleep in peace.
For you alone,
O Lord,
Make me dwell in safety.
