So if your baby is feeling unsettled and uncomfortable with colic,
Let's take a moment to connect and offer love and compassion through nurturing touch.
So the first thing to offer to your baby is just the warmth of your hand.
So before you begin,
Bring your hands together,
Rub them to create the warmth.
Lean forward and ask your baby if they are open to receive nurturing touch from you.
And you can do this with a gentle smile and the cue of rubbing your hands together.
And as you do this,
Really tune in and observe and witness what your baby is telling you.
As much as you desire to help your baby,
If your baby doesn't want to receive this nurturing touch from you now,
Then offer them another form of comfort,
Whether it's your arms,
Or a feed,
Or to rock,
Or to move,
Or to walk around.
If your baby is open to receive touch,
Then with your warm hand,
Just placing your hand on your baby's tummy.
And as you do,
Send an intention through your hand of healing,
Of harmonizing your baby's digestive system.
Send your intention and energy to bring love to this area.
And with the warmth of your hand,
Allow this area to relax and to soften,
To encourage the movement of anything in the bowel.
And your hand really is a way to communicate to baby that I know that this is hurting you,
Baby.
I know that you're in discomfort.
So offer your baby these words of reassurance.
To gaze at your baby and say,
I know,
Baby.
I love you and I'm here for you.
I'm here to help you and I understand your pain.
I hear you.
I see you.
And I love you.
With the warmth of your hand,
Allow yourself to melt into this moment and hold compassion for yourself and your baby.
And now in this moment,
Begin to paddle your hands from just above your baby's belly button down towards the hips,
One hand at a time.
Again,
Checking in with your baby.
If it's uncomfortable at any point,
Just returning your hand back to that soft position over the belly,
Like a gentle hot water bottle,
Bringing love and healing.
Otherwise,
Paddling the hands one after the other from above the belly button down towards the hips,
Gently encouraging the movement of air from above the belly button down towards the hips and out to the end of the bowel where it can be released.
One hand after the other,
Gently encouraging the movement of air through the bowel.
Continuing to check in on baby.
Reassuring baby,
Smiling,
Making eye contact.
Now taking your right hand and drawing a circle around your baby's belly from above the belly button and down towards the hips in a clockwise direction.
This follows the path of digestion and helps to encourage the movement of any air bubbles through the bowel.
Just allowing your hand to gently move now in a clockwise direction,
As if you're drawing a sunshine on your baby's belly and imagining that you're bringing the warmth of that sunshine to this area.
Gently soothing and calming the digestive system,
Allowing anything to pass allowing anything to pass through and be released.
So allowing your hands to travel around the belly.
And now bringing your hands to hold your baby's legs just above the knees on the hip area and gently encouraging your baby to bend their knees,
Bringing their knees up towards the belly.
Just holding them there for a few seconds and then releasing the legs and as you do with a gentle bounce creating space for any air bubbles to move through the bowel.
So bringing the knees gently up to the belly,
Holding them there gently,
Connecting with baby,
Checking in and then releasing the legs and just letting any tension go.
And again up towards the belly,
Gently holding the position and then releasing the legs and letting it go.
So now going back to that first position,
Placing the hand on the belly and the gentle paddling motion from above the belly button down towards the hip,
One hand after the other,
Flowing across this area,
Encouraging the movement of the air bubbles.
Checking in with baby as you go.
Continuing to do these strokes and then changing now to the beautiful sunshine on your baby's belly,
Again moving in the clockwise direction around the tummy area,
Above the belly button and down towards the hips,
Gently moving in that clockwise direction.
And then releasing the legs and gently bringing the knees up towards the chest,
Holding them there for a few seconds and then releasing the legs with a gentle bounce and then releasing the legs and gently bringing the knees up towards the chest.
And then releasing the legs and gently bringing the knees up towards the chest,
With a gentle bounce and letting that tension go.
Again back up to the belly,
Knees up,
Holding them there.
When you're ready,
Gently releasing with a bounce and letting go.
Last time up towards the belly,
Holding them there and then letting them go.
And now for the final time,
Placing the hand across the belly,
A little hot water bottle again,
Again checking in with baby,
Asking baby's permission,
Telling baby what you're about to do,
That you're going to help them with their tummy.
Connecting with how you feel,
How your baby feels in this moment and then paddling the hands down from above,
The belly button down towards the hips,
One hand after the other.
Gently gliding the hands down,
Flowing across the area,
Encouraging those air bubbles to gently move through.
Checking in with baby,
Continually asking baby if they're okay,
If they have everything that they need.
And then swapping now to that beautiful clockwise sunshine,
Drawing a circle across the belly,
Moving those air bubbles out towards the end of the bow.
Checking in with baby,
Moving in that clockwise direction,
Making the sunshine as you go.
And then finally bringing the knees up towards the belly again,
Gently compressing the tummy and then releasing the legs,
Letting any air bubbles be released.
Repeating again,
Knees up to the tummy and then just relaxing them and letting go.
And then that final time,
Knees up to the belly.
Gentle bounce and then release and let go.
And now to complete the massage,
We're going to place our hand across the tummy just as we did at the beginning.
We're going to check in with baby,
Feel how baby's tummy is now.
Just connecting in with your intention again to say,
And then when you're ready,
Thanking your baby for the massage and you can end this routine for today.
