Anchors
My doorway to music came out of a kindergarten experience that opened up the world of music to me. I don’t remember if it was something that we did more than once, but it is the only day that I remember. Our teacher handed out crayons and paper and then played a piece of music on the record player, and told us to draw in whatever way the music guided us. I was amazed at the beauty and simplicity of the process, and from that day on, music has always been a place of sanity for me to return to when all else in the world made no sense – an anchor to return home Anchors – long used to keep boats from drifting – in a similar way keep the feeling of being grounded in the present moment - breath, thoughts, physical sensations, and feelings – all impermanent - we can always be guided back to our home by returning to our anchors.
