Good morning,
I'm Jess Smith and welcome to Starting Your Day on a Path to Happiness.
This meditation uses the Reiki precepts which can be used as a guide to starting this day and every day on a path to happiness.
Before we begin,
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position.
You may still be in bed as you wake up and get ready for a new day,
And that's perfectly okay.
Without changing your breath in any way,
Notice without judgment as air enters and exits your nostrils.
Okay,
Let's begin.
Take three deep breaths starting with a long inhale through your nostrils,
Breathing deep into your belly,
Filling it with air as it expands like a balloon.
Once you have filled your lungs with air all the way to your collarbones,
Slowly exhale the air out through your nostrils in a slow,
Steady stream.
Let's do that two more times.
Take a long,
Deep inhale through your nostrils,
Breathing deep into your belly,
Filling it with air as it expands like a balloon.
Now exhale all the air out through your nostrils in a slow,
Steady stream.
And one last deep breath through your nostrils,
Filling up your belly,
Filling up your lungs.
And now exhaling all the air out through your nose in a slow,
Steady stream.
You may return your breathing to normal.
I will now speak each of the Reiki precepts two times aloud so you can listen the first time and repeat each one silently or aloud with me the second time.
Breathe in each affirmation as a gentle reminder,
And as you exhale,
Release all that no longer serves you.
Inhale.
Just for today,
I will do no anger.

I release all feelings of anger.
Repeat with me Just for today,

Now inhale.
Just for today,
I will not worry.
Exhale.
I release all thoughts of worry.

I will be humble and grateful for my many blessings.
Exhale I release thoughts of scarcity and feelings of greed.
Repeat with me.
Just for today,

Just for today I will do my work honestly.
Exhale,
Just for today I release fear from guiding my choices and getting in the way of me living the life of my dreams and talents.

I will be kind to all living things,
Including myself.

As we come to the end of this meditation,
Gently bring your awareness back to the present moment.
Feel the surface beneath you.
The air around you.
And the rhythm of your breath.
Take a moment to notice how you feel.
Remember the peace and intentions you've cultivated here,
Guided by the Reiki precepts,
Can lead you throughout your day.
These precepts encourage you to release anger and worry,
Embrace humility and gratitude,
Act honestly,
And show kindness to all living things,
Including yourself.
They are your compass,
Helping you navigate your day with clarity and purpose.
