We're going to be exploring light together today.
So start by finding a comfortable position.
Get yourself nice and cozy.
For the time being,
Let's keep our eyes open.
Notice the light that touches your eyes,
Your skin.
Let that light fill your experience.
Really notice it.
Where you are today,
There may be no sun,
Or it may be a beautiful sunny day out.
Either way,
Even on the cloudiest of days,
There's still light.
The sun beyond the clouds and above the atmosphere is sending down its light.
The light refracts through billions of tiny droplets of water suspended in our atmosphere,
Like so many sun catchers or prisms scattering the rays of the sun down to the earth,
Down to us,
Illuminating our world.
So notice the light now,
Where it comes from,
And notice the light that comes from within the room as well.
Even light created by light bulbs has the power to warm us,
To change our moods,
To nourish us.
So let yourself see and appreciate even these man-made lights that are all around you.
Now shift your attention to yourself,
To your own body.
Look at your skin.
Notice the areas where your body touches light.
Feel the light on your face.
If it's possible,
Turn your face towards the light source that's nearest to you.
On the lens of the eyes,
Feel the light on your hands.
See the way the light colors you,
And brings your features to life.
All our lives,
Our skin has soaked up life-giving energy.
Take a moment to truly appreciate your skin,
The way that it interacts with light,
The way that it draws nutrients and the best of that light to you,
Making you stronger.
At this point,
Begin to bring your mind inward.
Soften and close the eyes,
Still feeling that balmy glow of the light around you,
The light you are touching and soaking in.
Notice what you can still sense of that light,
Even with the eyes closed.
Can you feel it on your eyelids?
Is the light bright enough that it glows through your skin?
How else do you experience the light now,
With your eyes softened and closed?
Begin to let your attention move even deeper now,
To your heart space,
Your center,
Into the very seed of your being.
I want you to imagine now,
With your mind's eye,
An eternal light beginning to glow from this space,
This heart center.
Sense in,
And as you find that little flicker,
That tiny spark,
Breathe life into the light.
Let it grow.
Let it widen and expand.
Feel as that light begins to fill you.
Allow the lines that define you to dissolve into the light,
So that you are the light,
And the light is also you.
As light,
Feel your reach grow,
Filling the space around you and touching the world beyond you.
Do you,
As light,
Have a color?
A temperature?
What energy is your light emitting?
Spend the next few moments in silence,
Allowing your light to shine how and where it likes,
And ask yourself,
What do I want to shine more of my light on in my life?
What do I want to grow with my light?
Allow your light to begin to soften,
Drawing gently back into your center,
Flicker at a time,
Drawing inward.
Invite your awareness back into the body now,
Letting yourself take form again,
Separate from the light.
Notice the sensations of where you come firmly in contact with the floor or the seat beneath you.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes,
Anchoring yourself back into the solid form.
Bring the palms of your hands over your eyelids,
And for this moment,
Feel that blanket of darkness.
When you are ready,
Start to slowly widen your fingers,
Separating them,
Spreading them just a little bit at a time,
Enough to allow the light to reach the skin of your eyelids once again,
Gradually lifting your hands from off of your face.
Let those eyes begin to flutter open slowly and gently,
Rejoining the collective space,
Space around you as and when you are ready.
Blink those eyes and take all the time you need for this return.
The light in me sees the light in you.
Thank you for taking this journey with me.
