Find a comfortable seated position.
Let your hands rest,
Palms open on your lap.
Close your eyes or soften your gaze downward.
Take one breath in through your nose.
And let it go with a sigh out through your mouth.
Let's do that again.
Breathe in through your nose for a count of four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Hold.
Two.
Exhale for 6,
5,
4,
3,
2,
1.
Again,
In for 4,
3,
2,
1.
Hold.
Cheers.
Out for 6,
5,
4,
3,
2,
1.
And now take a few more of those breaths on your own.
Let each exhale begin to be a little longer than the last.
You're not trying to control anything.
You're just arriving.
On your next exhale,
Let a soft hum rise up.
Not a performance,
Just a low,
Easy hmm sound in the back of your throat.
Feel where it vibrates.
Your chest.
Your lips.
Maybe your skull.
On your next breath out,
Hum again.
And once more,
Let the vibration settle you.
Now when you breathe in.
And turn to exhale.
Let that hum.
Turn into a sustained.
Ahhhh on your exhale,
Gentle,
Unforced,
Like a sigh with sound.
Let it be low and easy,
Not a note you're reaching for.
One more.
Uhhh.
.
.
Notice how the sound changes as your breath runs out.
Don't chase it.
Just let it fade naturally.
Take a couple of more breaths with the ah exhale.
Perhaps place your hand on your chest right over your heart chakra.
Perhaps place your other hand just above your belly button.
On your solar plexus chakra.
And feel the vibration run up and down your body.
When you access your voice.
When you give life to it.
When you give life.
To yourself.
Let your voice go quiet now.
And allow yourself to sit in the stillness that's left behind.
The resonance in your body has a texture.
Even after the sound stops.
Notice what's here.
No fixing.
No analyzing.
No thinking,
Just notice the sensation left behind when you use your voice.
Take one more full breath in.
And out.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Whatever this day holds for you.
You've already given yourself.
Time with your own voice.
And your own breath.
Carry that with you into this beautiful new day of you.
