In this grounding meditation we honor Mother Earth, by chanting a healing earth mantra to her: Om Sri Gaia Ma, Purnatva Gaia Ma. Next to the mantra we connect to her via our posture, and a specific hand gesture, the Mother Earth Mudra. After a brief introduction we practice together for about 6 minutes.

Welcome!

Today is a beautiful day to honor Mother Earth,

Gaia.

To do so,

We will chant a healing Earth mantra while connecting to her through our bodies as well.

I will first explain the practice to you and then I hope you will join me.

The words of the mantra are OM SRI GAIA MA PURNATVA GAIA MA And you can find these words in the description of this meditation.

The words mean something like O beautiful,

Abundant,

Benevolent Earth Mother,

You are the fullest perfection,

Divine Mother Earth.

The melody for chanting this mantra is easy and you will learn by doing.

Next to chanting,

We will also use the Mother Earth Mudra,

A specific hand gesture to honor Gaia.

We make the same gesture with both hands.

And you can see what the mudra looks like on the picture that goes with this meditation.

So join me.

Come sit comfortably on the ground or on a cushion.

Loosely curl your fingers towards your palm and place your thumb on top of the nails of your little and ring finger,

Creating a round shape.

Then straighten your other two fingers,

The middle and index finger.

Now lower your hands and arms down next to your body.

Straighten your elbows and let your fingertips touch the ground.

In this way you have created a triangle shape with your body.

Your fingertips on Mother Earth form the corners of the base of the triangle while your head forms the top.

And of course feel free to adjust or sit on a chair if your body has different needs.

So now we have come to know the mantra,

Mudra and body posture for honoring Mother Earth.

And to chant,

Simply first listen to the melody.

And then when it's right for you,

Join in.

And know that whenever your mind wanders,

You can gently bring it back to the mantra and the feeling of your fingertips and sitting bones on Mother Earth.

So find your seat,

Lengthen your spine,

Relax your shoulder,

Form the mudra with your hands,

Touch Mother Earth and close your eyes.

We honor Gaia by chanting,

Aum Sri Gaia Maa,

Purnattha Gaia Maa.

Aum Sri Gaia Maa,

Purnattha Gaia Maa.

Now let go of the mudra.

Relax your posture.

Simply sit in the vibration of the mantra.

To end this practice,

Place both hands in prayer pose at your heart center,

In the middle of your chest.

Then connect with a feeling of gratitude.

Gratitude for Gaia,

Mother Earth.

Thank you for sharing your practice with me.
