This poem by Rumi speaks of light and beauty, and of a quiet presence that moves within the heart. From time to time it is felt, and when it is, even for a breath, it shines through as art, as love, as the simple poetry of being alive. Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi, popularly known as "Rumi", is a 13th-century Sufi poet. Today, he is recognised as one of the greatest poets who ever lived, due in part to how his words seem to speak to the Divine. Translation by Coleman Barks.

In your light,

I learn how to love.

In your beauty,

How to make poems.

You dance inside my chest,

Where no one sees you,

But sometimes I do,

And that sight becomes this art.
