You do not need to sit cross-legged, twist yourself into the lotus position, or turn your house into a temple before you can meditate. You can sit in a normal chair. In lesson two of this beginner meditation course, I explain how to find a meditation posture that is relaxed but still alert, where to place your hands and feet, whether to close your eyes, and how long a beginner should actually practise. We also talk about the part that matters most: building a routine that you can realistically continue. Five honest minutes every day will usually take you further than one heroic forty-five-minute session followed by two weeks of doing nothing.
