Savitri Pranayama 8-4-8-4 (Path)
by JM Py Daniel
Savitri Pranayama 8-4-8-4 is a rhythmic breathing practice. It coordinates the breath into four precise phases: an 8-second inhale, a 4-second full-lung hold, an 8-second exhale, and a 4-second empty-lung hold. This traditional pattern balances the nervous system and settles a busy mind, establishing a steady cycle: in 8, hold 4, out 8, hold 4. The music serves as a guide and for the first six minutes, a metronome counts every second with transition tones highlighting the shifts. From minutes six to ten, the guide lightens, beating only at the 8 and 4-second transitions. After ten minutes, the metronome fades completely, leaving only music to support natural stillness. Guided Pathways (path): These tracks act like a map for your meditation. They provide a clear structure and a steady "path" to follow, making it much easier to stay focused from beginning to end.
