The breath prayer engages our body by using our breath as a tool to both call on God and respond to a particular question.
This prayer is an example of praying without ceasing and can be practiced for as short or as long as the time frame as you'd like.
The prayer is usually said within as opposed to out loud,
However it is yours to use however you'd like.
This particular guided practice includes five minutes of silence in which for you to breathe and ends with the sound of a bell.
At this time I would invite you to sit comfortably with your feet planted on the floor and your hands resting in a comfortable position.
If you're able to and feel comfortable doing so,
I invite you to close your eyes.
If you prefer to keep them open,
Then gently set your gaze on something in the room that isn't moving.
Allow yourself to settle into the space as we begin to listen,
Breathe,
And share our heart's desire.
Taking a few deep breaths,
Open to the presence of God.
Breathe in deeply and exhale.
Take another deep breath and exhale.
And one more breath deep into your body,
Exhaling and opening to the presence of God.
And now imagine that you are calling on God by name.
And without giving much thought and responding from your heart,
What name would you use to call on God at this very moment?
And now imagine that God is calling on you by name.
What name is God using to call on you at this time?
And as God calls on you,
There's a question that follows.
And the question is,
What do you want?
And with a single word or a few words,
Respond from your heart.
Now breathe in the name that you use to call on God and exhale your response to the question,
What do you want?
Breathe in God's name.
Exhale your desire.
Continue to breathe in this manner for the time remaining.
And now imagine that you are calling on God by name.
And without giving much thought and responding from your heart,
What name would you use to call on God at this very moment?
And now imagine that God is calling on you by name.
And now imagine that you are calling on God by name.
And now imagine that God is calling on you by name.
And now imagine that God is calling on you by name.
And now imagine that God is calling on you by name.
And now imagine that God is calling on you by name.
