Good morning.
Find a comfortable position either sitting or lying down.
You can close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Take a slow deep breath in,
Feeling your chest and belly gently rise and exhale slowly,
Releasing any tension.
Now bring your attention to this new day,
A fresh start,
A blank canvas.
Take another deep breath in and as you exhale,
Let's bring to mind one thing you feel grateful for this morning.
It could be something big or something very small.
The warmth of your bed,
The sunlight peeking through your window,
The simple fact of being alive.
Just be aware of it,
Recognize it.
Now let's expand that feeling of gratitude.
Think of another thing you appreciate in your life,
Perhaps a person,
A comfort,
An opportunity.
Feel the warmth of thankfulness in your heart.
Take a deep breath in and as you breathe out,
Let's appreciate our bodies,
The strength that carries us,
The senses that connect us to the world,
Even the simple act of breathing.
Now think of one more thing,
However small,
That brings you a little bit of joy or ease to your life.
A pet,
A favorite mug,
A pleasant sound.
Hold that feeling of gratitude.
As we gently come to the end of this short meditation,
Carry this feeling of gratitude with you into your day.
Know that even in the midst of challenges,
There are always things to appreciate.
Take one final deep breath in and as you exhale,
Gently wiggle your toes and fingers and when you're ready,
You can slowly open your eyes,
Carrying this feeling with you throughout the day.
