Hello,
And welcome to A Flicker in the Dark.
Take a moment to settle in.
Let your body find a position that feels safe and supported.
Gently close your eyes or lower your gaze.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
Again,
Breathe in and out.
Let your breathing return to a natural rhythm.
Now,
Imagine yourself in a dark space,
Not a scary darkness,
Just a quiet,
Still,
Dim.
Notice what it feels like to be here,
Heavy maybe,
Empty,
Or distant.
You don't need to change anything,
Just acknowledge it.
This is where I am right now.
In the distance,
There's something small,
A faint flicker of light.
It's soft,
Steady,
Not demanding your attention,
Just there.
As you breathe in,
The flicker becomes clearer.
As you breathe out,
Your body softens,
Even slightly.
You don't have to move toward the light,
And it doesn't rush toward you.
It simply exists,
Patiently.
Even here,
In the dark,
It remains.
If your mind drifts,
That's okay.
If the darkness feels heavy,
That's okay,
Too.
Just return,
Gently,
To the flicker.
A quiet reminder,
Not everything is gone,
Not everything is lost.
Now imagine that flicker belongs to you,
Not something you have to build or prove or force,
Just something that is still there.
Even if it feels far away,
Even if it feels small,
It hasn't gone out.
Take a slow breath in,
Let the light stay exactly as it is,
No pressure to make it brighter.
Just notice,
It's still there.
Now begin to return to your body.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Notice the air on your skin.
Gently bring awareness back to the room.
Take one final slow breath in,
And out.
And when you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
And remember,
You can always return to this meditation if you need a flicker of hope.
Thank you.
