You The kettle has been boiled,
The water has been poured to create your favourite break time beverage.
You swirl the liquid making sure all the contents has been mixed,
Noticing the colours combining.
You set the teaspoon down and make your way over to a quiet spot to enjoy your drink.
You notice the warmth cradled in your hands and the steam reaching up and out of the cup.
You notice the liquid being held in the cup and trace your eyes around the rim.
You bring the cup up just below your nose and take a gentle inhale.
The scent completely floods your body and you feel like you can fully relax.
You gently blow on the liquid,
Noticing the ripples that it creates like waves in the sea.
You take a tentative sip just to make sure that your drink is the perfect temperature.
You notice three or four different flavours that you've never noticed before because usually you'd passively gulp thinking about ten different things that you need to do that day.
Well today is a little bit different.
You savour the feeling of taking a pause,
Of treasuring this moment to slow down and to notice everything that you've been missing.
With every sip you feel yourself filling up,
Feeling safe,
Feeling warm,
Feeling content.
You begin to notice the bottom of your cup and the remnants of your drink sliding away,
Leaving a faint ring.
You take your final sip,
Taking a moment to hold the warm,
Empty cup.
It almost feels like a treat,
A luxury to have had this time to stop,
To pause,
To be mindful and tend to yourself so lovingly.
You set the cup down,
Giving thanks to yourself for carving out the time and taking this feeling of peaceful contentment out with you into your day.
