My name is Serena and I'm one of the meditation instructors here on Insight Timer.
In particular,
I teach medical qigong.
Sounds fancy.
It's not.
It's simply the art of using our mind to master our body.
Using emotional energy to actually facilitate change on a molecular level.
Hopefully for the better.
We're doing it 24-7,
So we might as well master ourselves and get control.
So here's a little experiment that we can run together.
Absolutely free and it only takes a few seconds.
So I'm going to invite you to close your eyes.
Now!
Raise the corners of your mouth and smile.
Think of something that makes you happy.
Someone,
Something,
Someplace.
And smile.
Let that smile touch the corner of your eyes.
And now.
.
.
On the count of three.
Let's frown.
One,
Two,
Three.
For those of you who felt the difference right away,
That's it!
It's the inner smile.
We take the smiling energy and apply it to our physical health by directing that energy to specific organs and glands,
Whatever you need.
And for those of you who didn't feel it,
That's okay.
That means you could just practice a little more and then you'll get it because everybody eventually does.

So here's what I challenge you to do.
Pick one day.
For half the day,
Make a conscious effort to smile at everyone you see.
For the other half of the day,
Don't.
Don't smile.
Frown if you can.
And just see the difference within and without.
